Hopkins in a close but comfortable decision. Too many tools for Toney, who wasn't at his best at 160 anyways.

1991-1994 peak middleweight Toney vs 1997-2001 peak middleweight Hopkins would be one of the greatest and closest fights in history, two modern masters. Although I have Hopkins higher in all-time pound-for-pound terms, in a one-off fight I think '91-'94 Toney could just shade it.

Yeah, he's right, i was just wat***** Toney-McCallum 1 again, and whenever McCallum used his legs and jab outside, he was better, if you are a great boxer Hopkins and can make Toney lead, you can beat him imo, his footwork was not the bet and he can't cut down the ring by my reckoning, but he can still make a good go of it by timing counters, but he would need to hurt his man to get his gameplan to mess up, and i dont see him hurting Bernard,

I disagree.

While toney is naturally bigger, and the extra weight could possibly allow Toney to make it closer than at 160 because it fits him better, he'd still lose. The biggest difference between the two is footwork/mobility and versatility, and those are always going to be Hopkins' advantages in this fight, in fact Toney just became more flat-footed and stationary as he moved up in weight, which could make the decision even wider for Hopkins.

 

i would say toney has an excellent chance but i would favor hopkins slightly. it seems the majority here think hopkins wins everytime but toney is very very good. and whoever said hopkins stops toney might be a little out of line
