Margarito not fighting again till '09

True. He probably has one to maybe two more years tops before he gets old fast in one future fight. However, he does deserve this break. He went from Clottey, Williams, and then Cotto. Gayfeather went from Gatti, Baldomir, and a fishnet wearing businessman. Forgot how many times he retired in-between those fights.

I was hoping to see him again this year. I don't see how he couldn't get a deal with Williams or Clottey though, both would accept the fight.

 

he needs a break, i dont blame him, cotto should just fight clottey or williams.

 

Golden Johnson was a joke, but I did forget Cintron II.

 

I feel you. I wanted to see the Clottey fight..would have bought it too. Thought it was a done deal.. MAn, Arum.. is pissing me off. He should do like before and take the Williams..

 

The author of this thread asked, "What's wrong with this guy?" I just replied with the Gayfeather issue because if he can take looong breaks after fighting has-beens (Gatti and DLH) and never-were's (Baldomir), surely Margarito can take a break after fighting the previously mentioned fighters.

P.S. The Gayfeather issue is more of a sarcastic reply.

it looks like everyone wants to take the route Oscar Delahoya has made for the past years.

more fighters would rather not compete for/defend their titles, they only want the big money fights.

i swear its Oscars fault for this **** happening more often.

 

Bad move. He needs this end 08' fight to further solidify his image amongst fans. Do the damn thing while your image is still hot. Clottey isn't that well known but to go out there and look impressive would do the job.

Now he's gonna take another stupid long layoff and probably come back out of shape, slow and uncoordinated like he was against Clottey the first time around.
