I must admit that i didnt want to put my hand in my pocket and pay £15 to watch the Amir Khan fight. Instead, i happily listened to the fight on radio.

I got nothing against Khan, he seems like a nice guy and has got good skill. He is obviously to blame for his loss, he rushed in and didnt even take a couple of minutes to size up his opponent. And hence, he got knocked out terribly.

However, part of the blame will have to rest with his promoter. Amir Khan should not have been top of the bill, nor should it have been it payper view. He began to believe his own hype and was put under a huge amount of pressure as a result of being top of the bill. He thought he would walk through Prescott and this was a mere stepping stone. His previous opposition has been of mediocre quality (at a domestic level) and this was an unknown puncher (who was a higher quality than expected). Amir suffered as a result of this and learnt a painful lesson.

He will obviously need to regain confidence (which will be difficult), but now his opponents will have a higher confidence knowing that he is a bit chinny. This will be difficult to overcome and only time will tell how he copes. The selection of coaches is also worth a mention - this Rubio fella was chosen over the likes of Roach, Mayweather Snr? The only reason for this is surely because he was the "cheaper" option?!

I am kinda glad he got knocked out as to me this has prevented Frank Warren from shielding him for another 10-15 fights without offering him a real test. In my view, Warren has done this with some of his other fighters (e.g. Calzaghe, Hatton - happy to elaborate if required).

I hope Khan starts winning again. He can learn a lot from this KO and could still become a great fighter.
