Nate Campbell Has A Message For Internet Boxing Fans

    "To all the fans, I read what people say on the web. You have alot of people who really show their ignorance - and I want to be honest enough to say this. Don't be a punk, a keyboard gangster, and type what you want to say about me. Meet me in public somewhere and say it to my face. Look me in the eye and tell me you think I'm a piece of garbage, or you don't think I'm a good fighter. That's better than getting on the web, typing it in, and running away and hiding.

    The reason that boxing is flourishing overseas is because the fans are willing to love a fighter and hate a fighter with the same amount of weight. The fans overseas seem to be more gung-ho about boxing, and Americans need to be more like that. I can respect you coming to me and saying you don't like the way I fight. I can respect that - I may cuss you out and let you know how I feel about you, but you have to respect me for that also. So for me, I think the fans need to be alot more respectful to guys - and remember the fighters are the fighters, the fans are the just fans. They love us, we love them for that, but be more respectful. There are things that the fans say about people they'll never meet in combat, that is pretty (unintelligable).

    I'm not talking about the writers, I'm talking about the fans. One guy said that I hadn't beaten anybody - that I beat an overrated Juan Diaz. But I told the media way before I beat him that's going to be the first thing that people say. As soon as I beat him he was overrated, but if he beat me he was great. He beat the great Nate Campbell. So when I beat him, he went from being a god like figure to being overrated. That's the sadness of our sport. As long as Cotto was demolishing everybody, he was the man. Once Margarito beat him he was overrated. Don't do us like that. If we're good and we meet a guy that's better, just admit that the guy is better. Allow us the dignity of being out-manned on the night, because it happens."

    Nate is a Major Dude. Gotta love the guy. Im just worried Guzman is gonna outslick him. I wish Nate the best, but Guzman is tough to beat. As long as the fight is killer, nobody loses. Keep whoopin asses Nate!

    This pretty much sums up how some fans act. If a fighter they like, loses to a fighter they don't like, they always make excuses like "oh, he was shot", "not-Prime", "he won really, the judges are wrong". The level and consistency of this deluded point of view is really damaging to boxing in general, because it damages the credbility of anyone who actually wins a fight against another boxer.

    How true. If someone loses one fight half the board here scream "Exposed" and "Overrated".:patsch

    Someone who is a gatekeeper at ****ing world title level gets called a "bum" and the best people can do to criticise someone like Haye is call him "gay".:patsch :-( The level of immaturity amongst people who are supposed to be grown men who respect the sport is quite staggering at times.
