Tyson's late 80s fame and notoriety eclipsed even Ali, as far as mainstream media attention/buzz went, in my opinion. Ali attracted huge intrestes in his Frazier and Foreman fights, etc.........but that was not due to the explosive ring performance like Tyson's was. Ali was more of a personality and a character. Ali's mouthing and outgoing personality was a great compliment to his skill and speed, but Ali's speed and skill was not viewed like Tyson's powerhouse destroyer performances were viewed and perceived, as if someone were watching a car wreck. Tyson created awe, as people watched his aggression and power, take out opponent after opponent with ease........ It was more of a GOOD GOD, did you see that? sort of reaction with Tyson's fights................
:deal Exactly, not taking anything away from Ali, but Tyson was every bit as charismatic as Ali, and thats saying alot. Tyson had it all, it's too bad things ended the way they did, he certainly had what it took to go down as the greatest of all time.
I'd say Mike Tyson is number 1, my number 2 choice would is a nationalistic one but I say Felix Trinidad.
I'd take out Ali, Mayorga, Hamed, and Duran from the list. Add Saad, maybe put Pryor, Frazier, Fletcher. Tyson was very exciting for brutal KOs....for two-way action fights you're better off with a Saad or Gatti. Holyfield also.
How Thomas Hearns wasn't on the voting is beyond a joke. Has anyone even mentioned him or has everyone just forgotten about him?
