I'd give him props for that open statement . . . that's proffesionalism . . . he should now realize what he had done to his career . . . he may not have that oppportunity again . . . no NETWORK or PROMOTER would gamble on him again.

The apology won't return lost money because of the incident. :yep

His option now is to go up to junior welters. If he rules that division, he can line up to fight Pac. :smoke

i here winkys ready to fight again. maybe guzman could manage to weigh in at 160!!!!
he has prooved himself highly unprofessional not unlike jl castillo. julio cesar chavez had more than 100 fights and always made weight. perhaps pro standards arent what they used to be, obviously only a minority cus most fighters are real pro's. nate for instance, he just got on with the job. i hope guzman was watching the way he conducted himself

Well a heartfelt apology is step 1.

Step 2 is taking whatever suspensions or punishments he has coming his way.

Step 3 is making things right financially with Showtime who I think had to pay Campbell and everyone else involved in the fight and will want a refund from the guy responsible for blowing the event.

But after that he'll be fighting again. Perhaps on ESPN. Perhaps on Vs. But he'll be fighting. Mostly because once he completes Steps 2 & 3 he'll be broke.

Still a sanction must be imposed to him. Its a bad sign for boxing. Imagine his 9 months preparation to burn out that excess 3.5 lbs? He screwed it. He lost the respect of some fans.

Seemed sincere but an apology isn't gonna be enough to get people to forget about how he disrespected the sport. Best thing for him to do now is to get into the ring asap and put the focus back on the fact that he is a highly skilled fighter, whose undefeated, and hungry. If I'm him I challenge a big name guy like Katsidis or Casamayor who both recently lost so it might be good timing to score a bout with either of the two.

If he actually wrote it and not his promotinal team/lawyers/etc and he trully means it then that is pretty humble and big of him.

But he can't just expect to jump into another title fight. Hes got to get back in line and work his way up.

Well it still doesn't change the fact that he ruined the fight. To me this stuff is just damage control. I mean, what the hell do we expect to come out of him? Nate and his camp have stated for the record that Guzman and his handlers were not serious in trying to make the weight at all after the first weigh-in.
