I think im going to just wait and see before i give my judgment.

I have heard so many rumours i don't know what to believe. I have heard Golota was offered the fight but wanted to much money. I have heard Johnson and Chapman pulled out because of money and/or bottling it. I even heard Rahman got offered it but i don't know if that is true or if it was why it didn't happen.

Haye has kind of shot himself in the foot a bit with all his talking. I don't mind the talking as it promotes fights and keeps Haye's name in the publics mind (which is very important considering he knew he wouldn't be fighting for a while after the Maccarinelli fight) but perhaps he should have calmed the chat down a bit then upped it when he had an opponent signed.

In Haye's defense, i have followed his career and he generally doesn't shy away from anyone. He fought Carl Thompson in his tenth fight if my memory serves me correct. He fought that guy who beat him in the world championships as an amatuer. He took a fight with Bonin at heavyweight when he already had his shot at Mormeck signed (ok, Bonin is ****, but its still a risk to take when you know in a few months or so you are getting the shot of your life). He fought Mormeck in his own backyard and he fought Maccarinelli when he really didn't have to as making the cruiserweight limit was killing him.

Maybe Haye is running scared but based on past experience i doubt it.

Anyway, i will just wait and see.

Haye hasn't shot himself in the foot, fights will come about and if he wins his first couple a title shot should follow shortly afterwards. I'm sure he isn't concerned about the bitching and whining that goes on here, he'll continue to talk to keep himself in the public eye, then when he gets a fight sorted he'll either win or lose ( or draw ) Simple as that.
I'm sure he's not running scared of anybody seeing as he has never ducked an opponenet at Cruiserweight. But some of you idiots continue to convince yourselves that the thoughts in your little heads are facts

It plain to see that boxing fans are among the stupidest of all sports fans if you read half of the drivvle that's spoutted on here lol

The Blade made a point here, Haye has talked so much the last months, him being the second coming of Ali and next undisputed champ, knocking out 'that bum Klitschko' and so on and so on... that him even considering fighting Chapman of Johnson now is a disgrace in itself, regardless if the fight comes off or not...

I'm not even disregarding Chapman or Johnson here, they certainly good undefeated prospects who can maybe amount to something in the future and all, but they're not among the best in the division, they not even top 20, period. Who they beaten? Bruce Seldon? Who's interested in such a fight? Gimme a break. Haye's just cheap, don't even wanna pay them no serious money for the fight.
Toney, Rahman, Tua, Mercer, Chambers, Barrett, they're all proven names in the division and they're all interested in a fight with Haye, and they're all more credible opponents (with the exception of Mercer) than Chapman and Johnston. And don't tell me they all want too much money, if Haye really wants a credible opponent he can't pay them chump change.

I mean when Toney moved up to HW he fought Evander Holyfield, and before everybody disses him now sayin Holy was shot and so on, well Holyfield was past his prime but still considered a top5 HW at the time, and he was favoured over Toney, Toney was the underdog. And Toney stopped him, yes, the same Holyfield who's an ATG and who went the distance with a legitimate beltholder just 1 year ago. That's what I call making an impact on a division!

To me Haye is playing it safe for his first (or rather second) fight at HW - he can do that, no problem, but he should have kept his mouth shut, now he's making a fool of himself. Claiming to beat everyone of note in the division and then not fighting them. F.ex., he claimed he could KO Toney, who's interested in a fight - but now Haye won't fight him. This is just the same as me claiming "Listen now, I can knock out both Klitschkos and Sam Peter on the same night, but I won't fight them, ok? Now prove me wrong..."

The question to be asked here is, why do all those quality fighters (Rahman, Toney, Golota, Makaev etc.) turn Haye's offer down? It appears to me that, given the number of fighters who turned the offer down, that the fighters don't overprize themselves (as it is stated in the press) but that on contrary Haye's management doesn't pay them according to the market prize. As we all know, boxing is all about business nowadays and it is safe to say that no top rank contender will risk his status for little money. If Haye's handlers don't opt for a change in their startegy soon, Haye will not be able to secure a name opponent for his November date.

And here we are: several English papers reveil today that Chapman was only offered 140.000 $ to fight Haye, not exactly the kind of money needed to lure some serious competition in the ring...

It’s not a one night job. Training camps must be considered to job also. Training facilities and staff also cost serious money so it’s not that much. One must also consider how much of possible future pay days are in risk if he loses. Still its definitely good pay for couple months of work, but not the kind of money that gets top fighters moving.

Its still probably more money than Chapman's ever earned for one fight plus the money he can earn if he wins....he should take the fight.

    Great post...

All his talking has put him in a situation a bit hard to get out of without looking like a complete jackass...and he made his own bed.
