Prime for Prime would have been a great fight. Hops is just too old now.

His last three opponents have been 35 plus yrs old. Kelly is in his mid twenties and hits harder then all three of them.

Hopkins looked a little old in the Cal fight. Im not saying he faked a couple of the low blows but he def exagerrated them IMO to get a breather. Ive never seen Hops look so vulnerable..Ive seen him lose but not look like that.

Last prime guy Hops fought, he showed him to much respect and gave up nearly the first half of the fight.trying to avoid getting hit.

That guy (JT) doesnt hit as hard as Kelly, nor does he impose his will like Kelly does either.

This will be Hopkins last fight...he doesnt want to go out on a lost so he chose to fight again. I respect him for choosing Kelly, but dont quite understand it. He is getting a beating. Bet on it. :deal

I dont think it will be as bad for Hopking as people think, this fight is going to be rather close. Pavlik will probably win though

I personally think Hopkins will win

Pavlik is so overrated on ESB it is untrue - I am shortly going to check the Boxrec forum to see if he is as overated on there, if not I will jump ship.

He is a one-dimensional banger, more than that is needed to beat Hopkins IMO. He might be a very good one-dimensional fighter - but blasting out Gary Lockett (who it could be said took a dive in there) is hardly preparation for Hopkins.

BTW - I hate Hopkins as well, but see him winning here.

Agreed, Hopkins will recieve the beatdown of a lifetime here. Afterwards he'll fight Pacman at the same catchweight.

lol.. what about beating JT twice and Edison Miranda..or Zertuchi..

How bout this.. Hopkins losing to Joey CalSLAPPY and throwing 5 punches around is hardly preparation for Pavlik.

btw- I DONT HATE Hopkins, he is one of my fav fighters... he is just too old at this point and needs to retire

one dimensional? he has a very good jab. He has a lot of heart. decent hand speed, a good upper cut, can work the body and has extremely good power for a smw. Hopkins is old and punch drunk. This will not end well.

Hopkins is a live underdog in this one, for the following reasons:
    1. Pavlick hasn't been in with a crafty veteran on the level of Hopkins yet
    2. Hopkins made the Calzaghe fight razor close..I thought he won by 1 point
    3. Pavlick is moving up from 160 to a weight that Hopkins is comfortable with

Kelly is defineitly venturing into unknown territory here

Pav already had a fight with JT at 166..the fight with Hops is at 170.

Hopkins DID crap in the Cal fight with the exception of the KD in the first round.

I love Hopkins but he won't beat Pavlik imo. He simple won't do enough to win 7 out of 12 rds.

    1. The Hopkins fight was close but not razor close mainly due to the fact that Joe is devoid of a decent jab and isn't effective unless he's in close.
    2. Crafty veteran? More like an old man that throws 20 punches a round, aside from this he just beat a prime Taylor twice, and in case you forgot Taylor handed Hopkins his ass twice in a row:)
    3. Pavlik too is comfortable fighting at that weight as he's done so a handful of times. So hardly unkown territory
    4. How the **** did you have Hopkins winning by a point? You live in Philly?
