I have never EVER found Bernard Hopkins entertaining. Quite possible the most horrible and ignorant fighter to watch this side of the war.

Bunce did an excellent job asking the questions. Thought Joe made a good account of himself. To sum it up quickly for you bizzer Joe said that when the book was wrote he did believe what he said and thought it best Roy retire. However he has to give credit where credits due and that he Roy Jones has got himself together again and earned a fight and that fans have to remember Joe is no spring chicken himself and when they talk about him fighting oldies, he is one himself. Says that Pavlik was offered a fight against him after he hammered Lacy and then after Lockett (I love Gary but with all respect he never should have been in the ring with Kelly was Joes words). However Pavlik wanted nothing off it and only started running his mouth when the fight with Jones had been pretty much sealed. Says due to the poor standard of current Americans at that weight, Kelly is being overrated by the US Media similarly to Lacy I presume.

It was good to see JC give an honest assessment of Lockett at that level, the most ****ed up line of reasoning to come out of the General Forum in a long time was that Calzaghe cooled on the Pavlik fight after seeing what had happened to Lockett. :patsch

calzaghe basically said that 2 years ago he thought jones should retire and that he was washed up, but since then his opinion has changed having watched jone's last couple of fights. i thought he answered it fairly well

cheers Bluenose and steviek. I've wondered since reading the book how he would answer that question in front of public.

Think Calzaghe and RJJ gave excellent accounts of themselves, whatever people on here think of them in the ring they're now a credit to the sport.

Pavlik came across (as per usual) excellent too, I honestly feel this baiting between him and Calzaghe has more to do with their managers/team than the 2 men themselves.

Hopkins was, well Hopkins, bit of a **** IMHO (great fighter though)

What it did get me thinking whilst watching the show was that I think were cheaping this fight a little on internet forums, yeah I know a lot of people on here don't like Calzaghe and says he slaps etc etc but he is undefeated, and yes RJJ is probably past his best but he's Roy Jones Jnr god dammit! And yes the fight probably wouldv'e been a better fight years ago but its still a mega fight and we should stop knocking it and sit back and enjoy. Remember massive fights like these sometimes bring out soething different in fighters, this one's gonna be a good en' I can feel it :D

Joe basically said that since commenting in the book Roy Jones has earned a shot, and has had some impressive wins.

Joe stated he offered to fight Pavlik twice; Pavlik denied this.

"WBC and WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has denied claims that he turned down the opportunity to fight Joe Calzaghe. Pavlik, who takes on Bernard Hopkins on the 18th of October, has said that no approach from the Calzaghe camp was ever made. In an interview on Setanta Sports News during Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour Pavlik said: “I don’t know why they keep throwing my name out there. They never ever offered us the fight. Calzaghe? Never."

    Just watched it, great show.

Getting the interviews with the fighters is a great idea.

I sat there with a huge smile on my face the whole time, so much so that my girlfriend took to saying I was gay for boxing.

It wasn't that, how often do you get to see those kinds of interviews on British TV nowadays? It also definitely got me more excited about the fight. My only worry now though is that Roy and Joe respect eachother too much. I have a feeling they'll start off slow and with too much respect, do some showboating and then, as the end of the fight comes, realise they have some to go in order to win and go hell for leather.

They were hugging eachother. Do you think this will effect the style of the fight?

    Well done Steve, more please!

was a good show last night but was surprised at the level of respect joe and roy have for each other i mean damn they were standing in the same room laughing and joking together , it just goes to show you havnt got to hate each other to fight but just hope it doesn't carry over to the fight as it wont be as intense. was glad to see Roy has mellowed and and seemed to be more a down to earth , i guess thats what happens when your invincibility is broken.
