I've been a fan of Vitali since the Lennox fight and him beating Peter will be some sort of redemption for him, after he came so close to beating Lennox.
I have no idea who'll win, but I don't expect this to be an exciting fight. I'll probably just read about it after the fact.
"I can't wait. One of boxing's best nights of the year. 10-11-08 on Showtime." One of the more meaningful HW title fights to come along on a while. I want to see what Vitali has left, and what Peter's capable of. Definitely up for it.
News flash! Vitali already had a camp, and did not officially sign until a few weeks ago. Vitlai wanted to make sure he was in shape and his injuries healed. He looks to be in shape for sure. The workouts Vitlai is doing now are not heavy stuff, rather a lighter workload to keep him warm. A weeks worth of hard sparring can take a lot out of you. No one spars hard until the fight. Most boxers go light with 2 weeks to go, and even lighter with a week to go unless they need to lose weight.
After so much sh*t from team Peter, I can't wait to see the ol'Vitali back at work. Vitali KO5 Peter.
Very interested and honestly not pulling for anyone. The main reason for interest around here is to witness how each fighter is going to deal with adversity and prove himself far superior to the other... There are questions on my mind about Vitali's will and there are others concerning Peter's boxing intelligence. It's a pick'em fight and they're well known and fully experienced pro fighters... Best heavyweight matchup since Lewis-Klitschko in my book.
O ok it is on Showtime. I think this is going to be the most exciting heavyweight fight in a long time. Vitali is the fat man killer, and Sam Peter is in for a mauling. Just ask Sanders, Danny Willaims, and especially Kirk Johnson
So what is he doing for the next few weeks then? At this point in the training cycle is he doing anything that could aggrevate the old injuries? Does this mean he's tapered down sparring/hard training earlier than other boxers would, just to guarantee he'll be able to enter the ring? If so, any risk to that? Wasn't one of his cancellations due to a muscle pull in the thigh that occured during roadwork? He must still be doing some cardio training at this point, right? Again, I'm asking all this out of curiousity, not to dispute you. I hope Vitali wins.
I have a huge interest in the fight. Vitali was the last Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion and was always in an exciting fight. The fans win this one as it could be the most exciting Heavyweight fight in years.
