Love KP but a young Toney at 160-168 would've embarrassed Kelly....Plus JT's chin is outerworldly. Toney TKO

No offense, but I don't see how anyone on this forum could possibly pick Pavlik to win this fight. Pavlik always comes forward even when he's trying to box off the jab and this style is all wrong against toney. Even toney fighting off the ropes is a dangerous proposotion for Pavlik to try to take advantage of. Toney had a pretty good workrate and his chin has even stood up to heavyweights.

Pavlik fights a smart fight at range and wins himself a UD.

He's maybe gonna KO a faded Hopkins. If Toney could get down to 168 (like when pigs fly outta' my butt) he'd likely UD or maybe KO Toney as well. That said, Bhop and Toney both outpoint KP if all are in their prime unless Kelly ain't IN his prime yet. If that becomes clear down the road a bit, a reassesment will be in order.

Pretty much. I hate Toney, but this is a HORRIBLE style matchup for Pavlik.

Is it really though? Toney was always better with in the pocket guys, not necessarily those who fought on the outside. I think Pavlik's smart enough to stay there and utilize his considerable height and reach advantage and fight conservatively, minimizing James' chances of countering big on the inside by working behind the jab and straight right all night. It's not that easy for smaller men to land flush on Pavlik unless he lets himself get drawn into a brawl.

I think Pavlik takes it in a fight that's not really as entertaining as it looks like it'd be on paper.

Prime Toney by late TKO or wide UD.

Don't talk bollocks. Toney may have performed badley in the Jones fight but there were extenuating circumstances (and you know what they are). You or I might have watched Ali Frazier 2 and concluded Frazier has no business being mentioned in the same tier with Ali. Different class than Frazier.

I am assuming we are talking about primes here so Toney UD.

I haven't seen anything from Pavlik to make me think he'd even be competitive with Toney, providing that Toney shows up in good form. Toney late tko in a pretty one sided fight. Pavlik's got power and reach but he's not a slick boxer nor particularly good defensively. He beat Taylor and while those are good wins, Taylor isn't all that good either.

Did you honestly just reffer to Paclik as a "smart" fighter? I mean I like the guy but he is the most simplistic, near-sighted fighter there is.
