Shouldn't Pavlik beat a REAL Super Middleweight before calling out Calzaghe?

Well Hopkins went right up and fought Tarver. Calzaghe moved right up and fought Hopkins. Why can't Pavlik move right up and fight Calzaghe?

Big Bone, I don't fully understand your point to be honest. I'm not saying that it's down straight dog **** to compare Pavlik with Haye concerning their HW and SMW(???) expectations and goals. Just that we all know that there is a difference in weight and style you ought to adapt to when moving up from 190 to 230 lbs and there is almost none when moving from 160 up to 168 lbs... And both Pavlik and Taylor proved that that was the second best fight north of 160 and south of 175 lbs most recently and behind Calzaghe-Kessler of course. Both Pavlik and Taylor don't have to prove a Damn thing to get the best SMW fights out there and the same way Calzaghe didn't have to when moving up from 168 to 175. Haye is a whole new problem, he's into a whole new ball game when facing guys that are much bigger ( not just taller) than him... Matter of fact, I would say that Calzaghe clearly wants to walk out of the game and fairly so, taking on a bigger name more or less of his generation in RJJ. But we know what are the two fights that should be made and right away - Pavlik vs Calzaghe and Pavlik vs Abraham - problem is that one has to face two and in two different weight classes. This is all about who the public wants to see in the ring and nothing to do with weight classes, titles and commissions.

    Hey, Dorfmeister!

Why do you think Calzaghe should fight Pavlik before all others?

    He's fighting a mandatory.

The 'fight this guy now or you get stripped' kind of mandatory, not the Pavlik v Lockett kind.

no. The jump from MW to SMW is just a half-division. SMW is not even a real division, and Pavlik is already a big MW.

    Hopkins was a career MW.

The correct analogy ot use would have been a past prime Hopkins moving up from MW to LHW and destroying Tarver

This is the lamest attempt to defend Joe's bull**** that we've seen so far.

September 2007, KP beats Taylor, and Joe calls him out.

November 2007, Joe beats Kessler and calls Kelly out.

January 2008, Joe says clearly that a fight RJJ would be "a bit of a wet squib" and a disappointing way to end his career. He said he wanted the winner of Pavli/taylor II, and in his own words, "Probably Kelly Pavlik."

April 2008, Joe barely squeaks by Hopkins and calls out Roy Jones.

August 2008, Joe claims Kelly is a nobody, and simultaneously claims he offered Kelly a fight after he beat Lacy. So Kelly is a nobody now, but back when he was an unknown middleweight recovering from a career threatening hand injury, and his best win was Zuniga, he was a worthy opponent. This **** is indefensible. However, I will admit that a win over Zuniga is certainly better than anything on Manfredo's resume'.
