I have always thought that something was missing with Taylor. Im not sure what it is, but he doesnt have the "IT" factor. I thought that Steward would help him find it, but he looked as bad as he has ever looked when fighting under Manny.

I dont think he will rule, he may have a run and pick up a few belts.

The Lacy fight will tell us something of Taylors confidence. Froch is a bum and would be disposed of by an utterly demoralized Taylor...the only fighters that present a problem for Taylor are Bute, Kessler, Zuniga and maybe Ward or Dirrell

I think it might be that he does'nt have an idenity in the sense that what can you name that Taylor does great?..You can't really name anything.

How is Taylor going to beat all these 'Eurobums' if he won't fight them?

He had a chance to fight Froch for the WBC title and instead decided to take on Lacy as he felt he 'needed a win'.

No. Outside of Hopkins and Winky, middleweight was a pretty weak weight class, and if he didn't have all the titles handed to him on a platter by Hopkins not throwing punches for 8 rounds, he wouldn't have been the man at middleweight either. He should be able to get a belt, and possibly even unify 2 belts if he wants to, but I'm not sure he actually has the motivation to try to be the best (rather than to try to make the most money), and even if he tries, I'd still favor Kessler and Bute against him. Maybe he beats one, but probably not both, unless he really improves his stamina and fundamentals.

He couldn't put a dent in too many middle or light middles so I don't see him troubling bigger guys

Taylor rule the SMW division? Only if Kessler, Bute and Froch retire or go to LHW.

jermain taylor is a good fighter

he has good skills and in size will fit right in a 168.

what he does not have is the heart to win tough fights.

when the going gets tough every single time taylor tries to fiddle his way through to wins rather than grit his teeth and be willing to put everything on the line to get a win.

against hopkins they both fiddled there way through 24 rounds.

against wright he backed up v a naturally smaller and less potent man

againt ouma he did the same

against spinks no way no how was he prepared to make himself look bad attempting to cut of the ring and close spinks down, content to just stay in ring center and hope the judges see things his way.

against pavlik made him fight, but after round 3 in the first fight he had shot his load

in the second fight i had it 5-5 going into 11 and taylor gave away the last 2 rounds not prepared to take risks and gamble in order to get the win but played it conservative and safe and so lost.

at 168 without doubt taylor is going to be in fights where it is close and history shows taylor is not willing to get the last extra ounce of effort out of himself , and the other man whoever it may be, will beat him.

IMO if he loses a big fight decsivley in the future i think he will retire.

he is a fighter whose heart is not 100% committed to boxing , i beleive he treats it more like a 9 to 5 well paid job more than an eat/drink and sleep boxing type of fighter.

and thest types of fighters have always historically been able to upset and beat more talented fighters when form and abilty would be against them.

taylor i am pretty sure will run into one of these type fighters in his next 5 fights .

i see no longevity in the man despite seeing the talent that is obvious.

I stopped reading after the part in red because nothing could be further from the truth. This is the same guy who immediately gave Hopkins a rematch, offered Winky a rematch but Winky chose not to take it, and finally, this is the guy who, after being brutally KOed, fought the same guy who KOed him a few months later.

I think you have "heart" confused with "common sense" in the sense that he has heart but he doesn't sometimes use his talents the right way. For instance against Ouma and Spinks, he just did not utilize his size. He didn't let his hands go.

Be shocked if he dominates 168lbs, but no doubt he makes it more interesting and is a welcome addition to the division.

Little disapointed he's fighting a washed up Lacy instead of Froch for the tittle (whom he could've beaten) this suggests he'll only go for fighters recognizable to US networks.

He'll always be competitive and has youth on his side but ruling it? I don't know about that.

I think at the end of the day he probably beats everyone except Kessler (and Pavlik if he goes to 168). Him vs Bute is 50/50 IMO and a real FOTYC.

By the way...Taylor will not be too small for the 168 lbs division ! He was a very big 160 lbs fighter, with too big of a frame to fight at that weight..
Taylor was bigger than B-Hop at 160 and look how well Hopkins carries his weight at 175...

Taylor will be a better fighter at 168 and a champ to cope with, but only if he is truly dedicated that way !!
