Didn't he say he underestimated Bernard and that's why he performed pretty bad?Now this...

Calzaghe and Decebal are absolutely right, Joe C was not underperforming at the Planet Hollywood ring or else, he would most surely finish second best... You can't get up from a knockdown and lose the first rounds against a tricky, slippery, cagey, ultra-defensive and dangerous counter-shooter and win on points if you don't apply fully... Actually, Calzaghe moved up to a whole new level with Kessler and Hopkins, he doesn't have to over do it against Roy to be successful, Roy is the one who will have to do better compared with the MSG Tito fight, no doubts about it.

Hopkins was always going to be a bad style matchup for Calzaghe. alot of us called it before the fight was ever made. Prime for prime Hopkins beats Joe but that doesn't mean he's better than him (although i think he is). RJJ is an easier style matchup for Joe than Hopkins.

Im glad he actually admitted he was at his slappy best. Few fighters would do that after they didnt perform quite as expected

“During the Hopkins fight, I was at my best. I haven’t watched the tape, but I am going to study like crazy and be so ready."

I think its an error in the transcription, I think he will have said "wasn't". Honestly, I think its an error.

If that was his "best", I think it validates claims that he is nothing special.

I didnt think he looked to much slower than when he was 3 or 4 years ago.

He looked shitter because Hopkins was a lot harder of a matchup than he had faced in years, maybe in his whole career.

He's gonna knock him out. Hopkins is far past his best and showed his age against Calzaghe.

He's slowing. The guy's 36, I think its difficult to imagine a guy as fast as prime Joe not slowing.

Im not doubting that but his handspeed has seen a very gradual decline. You can almost not even notice it.

Similar to Roy and his handspeed. But Roy's reflexes and athletic ability went a lot faster and more noticeably.

Nothing special? after he knocked the living daylight out of hopkins for 9 rounds? the same Hopkins that was p4p number 4? if Cortez wasn't the ref, Hopkins would have been humiliated.

I suppose when Pavlik who is nearly 10yrs younger than Calzaghe, beats an even older version of Hopkins ( a fight after a loss is always far harder as they say) Pavlik will be in Americans eyes the best boxer on the planet... thats the sad thing.

U mean slapped the living daylight out of him. Calzaghe never came close to hurting Hopkins
