    Sonny Liston would have destroyed Lennox Lewis. Think a meaner Oliver McCall here. Len would end up like this:

    That was Lennox at his absolute worst.

    Yes, Liston would have beaten Lennox at his worst. But is that the question being asked here?

    Serious question - what are you basing that on? What victory in Lison's career leads you to that conclusion?

    The 2 over Patterson and the 2 over Cleveland Williams were A class material

    Lennox. Liston was a quitter and mentally fragile. Not to mention the size and skill difference between the two.

    Patterson- 190lbs, 6'-0" with a 71" reach.
    Lennox - 245lbs, 6'-5" with an 84" reach.
    Size isn't everything, but Liston could walk through Patterson. There is no way a fight with Lennox would be anything like that.

    Cleveleand Williams was around 210, so a bit bigger than Floyd but how can he be compared to Lennox? He had no really big wins and had lost to complete nobodies before Liston got to him.

    I still can't see how you can look at anything in Liston's career to support the argument that he would beat Lennox.

    I take Lennox by 11th round KO. I think Lennox would play it very safe in most of the fight but with his jab he will eventually find openings and get his shots in to KO Liston.

    Shannon Briggs had Lewis going, as did Frank Bruno. Ditto Vitali Klitschko. Lewis shamelessly ducked Corrie Sanders because he feared his fast left hook.

    One of Liston's best punches: Monster left hook.

    Sonny Liston would have destroyed Lennox Lewis. If you, Drexl, need me to explain to you the universe that exists between Ali and Lewis, you're not worth talking to on a boxing board. At least not by me.

    Liston was a bully. Lewis is a p_ssy. Perfect match for a brutal Liston KO. Liston would have beaten the snot out of Lewis before knocking him the F*CK out.

    Oliver McCall --> 6'2, 235

    Sonny Liston --> 6'0, 215-220

    Similar builds. Both men had fantastic chins.

    Little recalled fact about Liston -- he had a massive reach: 84". Same as Lewis.'

    Liston would have pounded Lewis, whose only chance would have been to try to smother Liston. No chance. Liston was excellent both inside and outside, and if Lenny tried to hang back, Liston would simply pick him off from distance with his long arms. Eventually, Lewis' shoddy wind and ridiculously inferior chin would show up, and when they did, the fight would end something like this:

    If Oliver McCall and Hasim Rah-fraud ONE PUNCH KO'd Lewis, Liston would destroy Lenny. It would be almost criminal.

    People just don't understand exactly how good Liston really was. Which just shows you how incredibly great Ali was.

    But make no mistake, Liston DESTROYS Lewis. And it's not close.

    Liston was somewhat limited, incredible puncher yes, put not a pugilist specialist by anymeans.

    LL middle round to late round KO

    Lenox was way to polished for Sonny. Sonny was a bully and Lenox would have stood up to him that would be half the battle.

    I like LL over a lot of Heavyweights from the past. Just to big and too skilled guys.
