    Hello,
I've recently moved to Edinburgh and I'm looking for a boxing gym that will take me in at the age of 32. I have no previous boxing experience, I'm looking to train, spar and fight (if it is possible to fight at 32). Any suggestions.
    Thanks.

I'm at Heriot Watt University, Riccarton. I was surprised there is no boxing gym/club at the university.

Man, why do you want to fight now? lets face it my man, your well past it. By the time you have learned enough to be able to go in & spar with regulars at a decent gym, you will be even older.

All that will happen is that you will spar, & think to yourself "man, if I was 10 years younger I could have done so much better"
Whats the point of taking up boxing when you are past your physical prime?
Take my advice. Do the boxing training, but stay away from the fighting side, & stick to reading books at Uni.
You wont do yourself justice by wanting to take up the sport at your age. Get real!

I'm sure you're probably right Dunky, however it's not too kind to dampen the guy's enthusiasm - if he wants to try then it's right that he does so. Let him arrive to his own conclusions. If nothing else I'm sure he'll get into great shape if he does it seriously and have alot of fun in the process. Good on the guy.

True... Try joining one of those white collar teams. Far more likely to achieve your dream that way.

I doubt the guy wants to follow a professional or serious amateur career FFS. And 32 isn't that old. The guy could be a natural for all you know.
