Larry Holmes had a great rhythem to his work could take a shot and knew how to hold lennox would of being looking for his huge overhand right or possibly his lead left hook with the right hand to follow. Holmes would win like he did with Gerry Cooney

Lewis, but not without a real going over

It would be interesting to see how Lewis coped with a guy capable of outjabbing him - but I see him being able to raise his game and beat Holmes

50-50.... Holmes speed Vs Lewis' punch selection. Hard to say- either a Holmes UD or a Lewis KO.

I think that this is a really interesting match-up.
I'd give the nod to Holmes for the better jab but in overall power Lewis definitely has the advantage.
I agree with Jeff that it is a tough call, but I think that Lewis would prevail. I could even see him knocking down Holmes actually although I doubt he'd be able to finish the job.
Lewis had a tendency to fighting to the level of his opposition and against fighters who he didn't really respect he didn't always prepare properly. I doubt that he'd do that against a top dog like Holmes.
I say 60-40 to Lewis on a close points win.

Lewis ko? Not a chance in hell.
I think Lennox is overrated at the moment. Yes he was a very good heavyweight, but the only thing he has over Holmes is power which would be cancelled out by one of the best heavyweight chins of all time.
It would be a competitive fight, but I can't see anything but a UD for the Easton Assassin.

Lewis hits harder with single shots then Tyson who Ko'd him and Witherspoon who had him in bags of trouble.

That was the best version ever of Witherspoon. At the time he was in shape and highly motivated (unlike the rest of his career) and gave Holmes a damn good fight. I'd say that it was one of Holmes's best wins.
Lewis would be an entirely different proposition though - Witherspoon was very active in that fight and Lewis wouldn't be quite so active. But then again Lewis hits a fair bit harder than Witherspoon and is a naturally bigger man.
I doubt Lewis would be able to KO Holmes - Holmes used to get knocked down occasionally but he always got up again to win (in his heyday in late 70s and early 80s). He had very good recuperative powers and sturdy chin.

if Frano Bruno amongst others could easily outjab Lewis, imagine how effective Holmes' jab would be.

I don't agree Lewis hit as hard or as fast with single shots as Tyson either.

I'd also add that Holmes got knocked out only once in his career by a prime Mike Tyson. He managed to use his jab well to stave off Tyson for the first few rounds, but the final result was pretty much inevitable. I wouldn't say that Holmes was washed up at that point because he gave prime Holyfield a pretty damn good fight later on.
Holmes was an all-time great. His biggest misfortune was being the next big thing after Ali. His lack of charisma certainly didn't help him, and admittedly his division wasn't the deepest either, but there's no doubting his talent and accomplishments in the ring.
