It just never gets old. So sweet to think of all the smack the Taylorites talked about Jermain's "greatness" after his string of gift decisions.

All of that good fortune, however, mattered little on September 29, 2007.

Kelly Pavlik decisively stopped Taylor in the 7th round, forever ending the erroneous "Taylor Myth." Like Miguel Cotto months later, another HBO would-be 'Golden Boy' was not only beaten but destroyed before the entire world.

Taylor, true champion that he is, made an immediate rematch with Pavlik. He fought much smarter in the second bout, but still lost a unanimous decision to the Ohio native on Feb 16, 2008.

By dropping the return match, Taylor proved that the first fight had been no fluke. Pavlik was simply the Antonio Tarver to his Roy Jones, the Vernon Forrest to Taylor's Shane Mosley.

I respect Jermain Taylor, always have. He is an excellent athlete, world-class fighter and has the heart of a lion. Many boxers in his shoes would never have fought Pavlik again, let alone made that rematch their first fight back after such a dramatic KO loss.

Similarly, Miguel Cotto deserves praise and acclaim for his accomplishments within the squared circle.

The real joy derived from watching Taylor and Cotto blasted out by superior opponents comes from the egg on the face of the network that idiotically manufactures supposedly 'unbeatable' fighters, HBO. Listening to the imbecilic domestic assaulter that is Jim Lampley shill, time and again, for Taylor and Cotto when they were clearly being beaten was maddening beyond words. All kinds of bias, double-speak and flat-out lies were perpetrated in the name of protecting these HBO 'house' fighters.

One year ago today, Kelly Pavlik not only ended the Taylor Hype, he also scored a solid stoppage of the BS eneterprise known as Home Box Office.

    Thanks, Kelly.

Your a dummy to call Taylor a fraud the guy who came so close to KO'ing Kelly in the 2nd round, and some felt he won the rematch so if Kelly is better than Taylor it's not by much.

I got nothing but love for Taylor. He just ran in to a beast in pavlik who will likely become a legendary fighter. JT is BY FAR NO FRAUD. The man is a great athelete and will still have a succesfull career

Paulfv, why is it every time I read your posts you are loving a guy being beaten? Are a boxing fan, or a sadist? Rather than have an avatar of a boxer you admire, you have a picture of a guy with gruesome facial injuries.

Taylor was not "exposed", he was beaten by the better man, that's all. He fought well on the night, and was very close to victory at one point.

The only person exposed on this thread is you - as a major *******.

Shut up, moron. And cry me a river while you're at it.

You don't understand what I wrote, obviously. And you know what? Too damn bad. No point in my directing remedial reading comprehension class for your sorry ass.

Taylor and Cotto both got exposed. You don't like it?

    So what.

Oh yeah -- and I picked both fights. Or, I should say, all 3 fights. Why is that?

'Cause I think when I make predictions. I don't 'root,' or hope. I think. That's why I'm me, and you're not.

I picked Taylor and Margarito to win.

Taylor was nearly there in the first fight, but lacked a little composure - in the second he fought very smartly but dropped a wide (IMO) UD.

You do not know what the word 'exposed' means. Miguel Cotto was exposed, because he was a fighter who was very highly rated but had not yet learned the rudiments of boxing defence. Jermain Taylor was not exposed. He was caught by a good punch by a very powerful opponent, who then finished him clinically. At no point in that bout or in the return was he ever exposed as anything other than a very good boxer who was simply in the ring with a better boxer. I also called all 3 fights correctly, but we are still nothing alike, because my avatar is of fighters I love, and not a picture of someone bleeding that is clearly your way of desperately wishing to be thought of as knowledgable and intelligent. You are exposing yourself more with each post.

PS: For anyone else reading this, I also think Cotto is an excellent boxer, I actually think he is better than Taylor, but his glaring weakness was 'exposed' in that fight.

    Fraud? :patsch

I dont think the guys is up there PFP but he's still a very good fighter. Any man that draws Winky and defeats Hopkins twice should not be called a fraud.
