Night before khan fought prescott wnet couple of rounds with him, cracked him on the jaw, felt something go...
Besides Wlad, I "ran" in the ring with Jonathan Banks, Andy Lee, and Kermit Cintron. BUT after Wlad hit me, I never let those guys get close..... only 1 round each. I was so tired after "running" for 3 minutes :barf
I sparred with Robert Frazier when I was much younger. For a few rounds. He was messing around with me though. My father was training him at the time. I also sparred my father a lot too.
I wasn't when I first started, but I have been fighting southpaw since 1996. I had a 75 amatuer fights, lost about 22 of them, the big three names on my losses are Roy Jones, Frank Liles (in a close one) and kenny Gould. I had 2 pro boxing fights (1-1) I had 18 pro kickboxing fights (17-1). My last fight (a "comeback" after two years) I got Ko'd by Patrick Barryatsch This is Patrick DESTROYING Garry Goodridge [GV]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5500613477916883169&ei=fwrkSIXmA4TyqAPgjpzWDw&q=patrick+Barry&vt=lf[/GV]
Fans who've never stepped in the ring, C, have no idea of how exhausting it is just holding up 16-ounce gloves for three-minute rounds, let alone getting on your horse, as well. Did Andy Lee or Cintron ever drill you? They punch a ton.
Andy kinda cought me.... by they were all going 1/2 speed. It was just playing around in training camp. They didnt want to kill me. We had on 18oz gloves. You are so right. The amount of energy it takes just to keep your hands up for 3 minutes is INSANE
As a guy way past geriatric, it's enervatiing to see the fire that still burns in you. I remember some years ago, Kenny Lane, the corking southpaw lightweight champion, had the same compulsion to get back in the ring, when he was over 50. Passed the physical, got his license -- lost a decision, but got it out of his sytem. But for the brief few months of training, the adrenaline rush must have been wonderful. Kick ass! MN
Sparred with a few guys..... Danny Green......ex Light HEavyweight Champion Anthony Mundine............Super Middle Champion Paul Briggs.......... Sakio Bika Kosta Tszyu..........(unknown:hey ) I learnt that these guys are elite professionals for a reason........most wiped the floor with me..........although a few I could outbox but could not out punch
What an impressive list, O -- from welter to lighthvy -- all tough as nails! Which was the biggest challenge for you?
I sparred with Glenwood "The Real Beast" Brown, and Tracy Spann. I learned to Chew gum after sparring, because it helps a sore jaw when you get hit with uppercuts
I also learned that even though I was in shape, I was not in boxing shape. Boxers train so dilligently, that the pain they go through to get in shape is incredible. A boxer can run more than half speed and do about 2 1/2 to 3 miles easy.
Those were mean SOB's, N. Ever get their attention with a shot or two? The chewing gum tip sounds like somethin' ol' school Dempseyish.
As much as it pains me to say it would have to be Anthony Mundine his speed was to much for me............ Hardest hitter was between Briggs and Green Bika was wild and I could see his punches coming however if any of his landed flush he would of destroyed me Kosta hit as hard as any of them yet he was only light welter although when I sparred him he was around middleweight
