We all admire the fighter who goes out fighting. Nonetheless there comes a point in a fight were a corner should stop a fighter in the interest of their fighters' health.

An example of a corner who failed their fighter by not stopping a fight was Bowe's in the second fight. That fight should have been stopped at the latest after the seventh.

What are some examples that you remember of fighters whose corner failed to stop fight that should have been stopped and allowed their fighter to suffer needless damage?

Seriously and I may get flamed for this but Lacy's corner in the Calzaghe fight. I know Joe is not even close to a "power puncher" but he was landing flush over and over Lacy was cut and swelling. That fight should have been stopped in the 9th or 10th round it was so one sided.

Richard Hall's corner not stopping the Roy Jones fight.

Nino Benvenutti's corner in the Carlos Monzon rematch. Nino deserved more of a chance than that.

Myth. They just told him to "box, box, box". They never told him to run and give away the rounds. One of the cornermen told DLH to make sure he still won the rounds.

Also Danny Williams corner in the Klitschko fight he was getting beat to a pulp so bad it looked like Klitschkko was going to pass out do to exhaustion from punching Williams so many times. Props to Jay Nady for finally stopping the fight.

Jack Mosley in Mosley-Forrest 1. He didn't know what to do.

In all fairness, Klitschko DID pass out once from exhaustion due to hitting the other guy too much, and he lost the fight lol... maybe that was the master plan in William's corner.

Well I don't know about not stopping a fight in the concern of saving the boxer, Lacy does come to mind, he might be better today if it were stopped sooner. You just never know, look at Abraham when he fought Miranda in the first fight, if they would have logically stopped it he would not have won. But I can tell you about bad corners in general. Take Tyson's corner in the Douglas fight: " Mike all you need to do is hit him and make sure he don't hit you" and when his eye swoll shut they gave him a latex glove with luke warm water to reduce the swelling. How about his corner when he fought Lewis? Paper towels shoved in his cuts? Come on man! Not saying Tyson would have won those fights, but with better trainers and more prepared corners who knows? He might have had to actually train, and when things don't go according to plan perhaps a stradegy change would help.

word is Birmingham was thinking of stopping it but fat **** Gary Shaw told him not to. You could see Gary Shaw walking to the corner after just about every round and talking so it might be true...........

You got the wrong Klitschko, your thinking of Wladamir in his fight against Ross Purity. Vitali did not suffer a loss until he fought Lennox. Unfortunately stamina munt not run in the family. Please see the Lamon Brewster fight. Wlad basically knocked himself out.

That same cornerman was Gil Clancy who is well known to instruct his fighters to "box and not take chances" when in the lead going into the late rounds. Watch any fight with his commentary and he'll say the same.

Didn't Vitali "lose" to Chris Byrd due to a dislocated shoulder?

stan johnson or whatever his name was in g-man's corner in the benn fight
manny steward who was mcclellan's trainer up to that fight would've realized something was catastrophically wrong and stopped that fight
