Marciano in 8. I could envision Marciano hitting the deck once in the first three rounds and Pattersons foot and hand speed giving him trouble until Marciano starts to grind him down and stops a weary Patterson in around 8.
r9 is a hater and has no clue what he is talking bout rocky fought like 10 top 10 guys. he beat some older guys like moore, charles, and louis but if rocky was SO BAD wouldnt one of those guys beat him? he beat the best of an average era. which makes him above average and floyd would have gotten his ass handed to him. please. johanseen beat him.
If people want the names of top 10 guys Rocky beat, here you go Walcott- Champ duking it out with Charles Charles- Champ duking it out with Walcott Louis- Old but was on a winning streak and beat a few contender Layne- Tough contender, favored to BEAT Rocky Savold- Tough contender Cockell- Solid Contender Moore- Great LHW who won the title, and 43 fights, after Rock beat him Matthews- Solid contender LaStarza- One of the few contenders who did not win the belt. Was a very good fighter and I think if he had the belt he would of held on to it for a while. That's 9 and I am using Ring rankings that were scattered I found online. I bet Rocky may have another person or two in there. http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Arena/1047//ring.html
patterson might drop marciano early but rocky was a relentless warrior with perhaps the most heart and stamina of any hw ever. he might ktfo patterson, who had a soft chin, with one punch at any time but i reckon marciano slowly breaks him down and overwhelms floyd with workrate by the mid to late rounds. I'd favor Rocky over any fighter sub 200 ever w/the exception of my man in the avatar whose iron chin and **** talking would be too much for marciano :yep
You know I really dont have any strong objections to your well thoughout post except this one. I dont see how floyd is more durable than walcott. Floyd fought hardly no punchers or big heavyweights other than johansson and liston(which he was easily stopped).......While Walcott on the otherhand outside of Lennox Lewis fought the most punchers out of any heavyweight champion. Walcott suffered 5 stoppage losses yes, but all those early stoppages pre 1940s were when walcott was suffering from typoid fever/malnutritioned/untrained/taking fights on 24 hr notice to feed family. Walcott once said in his fight with al ettore he was so hungry from not eating anything in 48 hours that a shot to stomach hurt him so bad he had to go down because he had literally nothing in there. However, Walcott full managed fully equipped fully trained fully healthy from 1944-1952 suffered just TWO stoppage losses.......to ATGs louis and marciano. Now patterson easily went down when hit by johannson, ali and liston. Walcott on the otherhand took some monsterous shots off marciano and louis. when did patterson take any punches off johannson and liston without going down? In fact what punches from hard punchers did patterson ever take? Walcott faced many big heavyweights and hard punchers like 6'3 210lb lee q murray, hatchetman sheppard, tommy gomez, Elmer Ray, 6'6 220lb hein ten hoff, rex layne and took flush punches off these guys and managed to stay in the fight. patterson never took a hard punch from punchers like these. ps On a sidenote, Rex Layne was considered extremeley durable from his ability to withstand tremendous punishment from bob satterfield and comeback and win........but one marciano right hand seemed to change laynes confidence FOREVER.
what so when I state the age of his best oponents i'm an idiot, shut the **** up. Rocky's undisputed best wins are against fighters very VERY much past their bests but still decent fighters, not enough to merit the greatest of all time imo. Imagine if tyson fought old lewis, old walcott, and all those other light heavyweights like la starza, Tyson would anihilate them along with rocky
oh and you do..........muppet people obsses over him because he was undefeated, the man only defended the crown 4times wtf
