You are right, he can't fight effectively at close range. I find it funny that Abraham is compared to Cotto (but can understand Pavlik's comparison to Margarito) as it also sounds like as if AA doesn't apply effectively to this gameplan he would lose by a 100%. If Abraham can fight Pavlik like Cotto has fought Margarito (remember those flush shots that landed on Margo's chin), then Pavlik definately is going down. But right Mr. Conditioner1234....Abraham has no power at all...
Pavlik should take this. I would think Pavlik should be able to outpoint AA as he tends to take to much time off in his fights whereas Pavlik is much more actice. Of course Arthur is always dangerous with the abrahammer and Kelly's chin is a bit suspect. Forget a Pavlik kayo win. That'll never happen.
Abraham has huge power, but he's nowhere near as multi-dimensional as Cotto. Cotto on the other hand tries too hard to be something he's not and doesn't change up his game plan for the right opponent. Thing is, AA only has one gameplan. Cover up, let his opponent come to him, and land haymakers. If Pavlik boxes him, it reduces AA to having only a puncher's chance because Abraham's height, reach, and lack of mobility make it very difficult for him to be an effective boxer or pressure fighter.
I never said AA has no power, but not ko'ing shannon taylor makes me question his power. Shannon Taylor has been ko'd quite a few times, and by fighters who are far less of a puncher than AA supporters make AA appear to be. I have watched quite a few of AA fights. Tough guy. No doubt about that, but just don't see him beating Kelly. Do you really think he will be able to cover up and wait on Kelly? No way. Kely will fight smart, use his jab, and establish distance. He will use the first few rounds to figure AA out. By round 2-3 the right hands will start coming more regularly, and then when AA is really covering up Kelly will go to the body with the left hook off his 1-2. Look at Kelly's fights with Miranda, Zertuche, and Taylor. All were finished whle covering up, and the finish came from long range. AA will come to fight, but will soon realize he is in over his head. Kelly is going to be a tough nut to crack. Tremendous fighting spirit. Great size. Heavy hands. Underappreciated defense. High punch output. A good chin. And... a killer instinct.
Oktay Urkal was ko'd by Vivian Harris, and Cotto couldn't even wobble Urkal. Who hits harder Harris or Cotto?
Pavlik UD is the most likely scenario but i predict AA catches him with a bomb when hes a few points behind and stops him. Kellys got a solid chin but it isn't iron and AA is p4p one of the biggest punchers around. I also think Kelly has too much pride to box him to a points win, he will get in there with Abraham and it will become a real war.
Again...Miranda wasn't Abraham's toughest opponent. The problem in the first fight was that his jaw was broken twice, yes, but that doesn't mean that Miranda is a hell of a fighter. Personally I don't think that Pavlik has broken Miranda. The conclusion would be that AA broke him earlier, because he took the 0 from him.
solid point but i think the way KP beat him is what realy took it he beat his ass. and that was the first time got his ass whooped in the ring
I think it is a 50-50 with a slight edge to Pavlik. If we compare AA to Taylor. Taylor is taller and has better all-round boxing skills. However, if AA has Kelly hurt like Taylor did then AA will finish the fight. AA is a great finisher. He walks around with good defense and good chin and hopes for the opening and he can finish when it comes. So although Taylor may be the better boxer, AA certainly is a very dangerous customer.
I see Aurthur Abraham winning by late stoppage. His tight defense is going to make Pavlik take chances and thats when Abraham capitalizes and KO Pavlik.
