The last time I saw / listened to Max Kellerman cover a fight, he seemed to be less "wired". He is must have taken a tab of prozac, or HBO must have listened to the ESB voice of protest. What do y'all think the reason is for Max's new demeanor??????
It's about time. Kellerman has good energy and enthusiasm for the sport. He's also smart. Not as smart as he thinks he is, but smart. He needs to be able to tone it down, which he's doing, and he needs to let his biases go (Zab Judah, ...). I'm not sad in the least to see Merchant go, except for his interviewing ability.
You win the disturbing avatar of the day award. I agree on Kellerman. At least he's knowledgeable. I do like Larry too, though. The guy I can't stand right now is Lennox. His insights are pretty bland, and honestly I expected much more from him in the intelligence department. In terms of former fighters, RJJ was a MUCH better commentator than Lennox is.
My reaction exactly. Hopefully, HBO jettisons this unqualified punk. It doesn't matter if he talks fast or slow - he doesn't have the maturity or experience to hold this sort of position. Get someone QUALIFIED, someone who has actually worked as a boxing journalist or participant - someone like Al Bernstein, for example.:yep
Kellerman is a bug-eyed geek who had the **** beat out of him in high school. You can see his geekness in his face. He was the guy that the girls felt creeped out by when he turned his lizard-like gaze upon them. The insectoid Max would creep any girl out, even if she were blind.
