I think AA already proved he may not be able to make the weight anymore. And pushing the fight back can have one other consequence for him. This gives a window for Pavlik/Calzaghe. I had expected Pavlik/Abraham to be signed BEFORE the Jones/Cal fight. This won't happen now.

Making 160 will be very hard... Abraham had his problems and ultimately flu caught up with him... But win or lose, let's make the Pavlik-Abraham fight!!!

    Pavlik by UD.

I really cant see it going any other way. Hopkins dont have the work rate to win rounds. He dont have the power or energy to KO Pavlic. He might drop him if he is able to set up a big shot with his skills the same way he timed Calzaghe and dropped him but he dont have the stamina to follow up on it and will let him off the hook even if he does.

On the other hand I dont see a KO for Pavlic because at this stage, Hopkins still has good enough defense and skills to avoid getting tagged with big shots and has enough tricks with holding and fouling to get his way through all 12 rounds without being hurt but at the same time not winning many rounds due to low activity.

Pavlic UD 12 based on activity, just like all of Hopkins recent losses.

I much would have prefered that
    Pavlic-Calzaghe
    Hopkins-Roy II

were made instead of the opposite. Those two matchups would be more competitive than the ones we got.

I think BHop has been around the block too long and is too slick to get ko'd by Pavlik. He's very quick and tricky but Pavlik will be aggresive and work BHop enough to get the decision:bbb

Mark my words... At this age, Hopkins is going to give the Ghost the same recipe as he did against Trinidad in 2001.

According to media sources, Kelly Pavlik suffered an elbow injury during sparring after clashing with Byron Mitchell's elbows. He skipped a few sparring sessions but now back at work.

The injury won't KO or postpone the fight says trainer Jack Loew.

A few years back Kelly fought at 170 (weighed in at 169,) and then fought at 160 five weeks later. He's been up and down the scale from 154 to 170 his whole career.

Seems too tall a task for AA though.

It's time to make people get shocked once again and fall into their seats and their horribly boring everyday lifes and their low expectations. And who's better than Hopkins to do it? Reality check to the fairy tellers and boxing adventurers... I just love it!

He never went below 159 since his early 20s. As he became bigger with a bit more muscle, so it became harder to make weight. He never was a full SMW just didn't kill the last pounds for non-title fights. If he doesn't want to have a disadvantage to Hopkins (who looked VERY big compared to Calzaghe, at least 190 fight night IMO), Kelly has to build a LHW body as well...

Coming back from THAT will be tough - just ask Arthur Abraham who only put on 6 pounds of muscle...

It took 10 days to leak. They probably just confirmed it when when asked.

That's right... they had to respond when they asked as they didn't want a rumor to spread around...

Pavlik is OK now, back at training 110%, nothing to worry.
