I know this topic has been done to death, so forgive me. I have always been a big fan of both Roy Jones and Joe Calzaghe. Their acheivements have cemented their legacies as all time great fighters in my opinion. I can't however see why anyone would get excited over these two meeting in the ring this coming November. Calzaghe at age 36, has virtually no sting to his punches at 175 Lbs, while Jones at age 39, has not recorded a KO in 6 years. My prediction, is Calzaghe out moving and out performing a slower, aging foe in much the same way that he did against Hopkins, and ultimately winning a close and unimpressive decision....Lastly, I don't know what venue this fight is being aired on, but if it is indeed on pay per view, anyone who fronts the cash is going to be ripped off......
I will be fronting the cash in hopes of a RJJ KO. but knowing that there is about a 2% chance of that happening, I just hope its a little more entertaining the the tito and hopkins fights.
I'll either be watching it at a bar or paying for it. It's an all-time match-up, despite the fact that it is coming later than I would have liked. Don't be a fool and miss the final fights of Roy Jones' career. There may never be another to come along and fight as impressively as he has. Don't miss out on history in the making. You'll miss him when he's gone.
pointless and gutless fight by Joe. Joe Cal should be getting KO'd by Pavlik and Jones and Hopkins should be fighting a farewell match.
I already miss him........I miss the Roy who came back and destroyed Montell Griffen in one round, after an embarrasing loss........I miss the Roy who easily defeated Virgil Hill, or beat antonio Tarver.......I miss the Roy who won the heavyweight title, by slapping around John Ruiz.....I miss the Roy who also defeated James Toney....... THAT Roy is gone, and has been for many years... Anyone who watches him fight Calzaghe in November, will not be seeing the Roy Jones of yesterday, but rather a shell of his former self......
You're absolutely right but Hopkins and Jones tried this and the two of them couldn't agree on the split. :tired
I have a feeling roy is gonna give us one last spark... i believe he will end his career with a big bang by knocking out calzaghe....Its a very wild prediction but I have that feeling
Calzaghe will beat Jones and be remembered as a Top50 All Time Great with this legacy: -Old Eubank -Lacy -Kessler -43 year old Hopkins -40 year old Jones
Jones couldn't KO a blown up welter last time out, how is he going to do it to Joe who has a good chin. A: he's not. Jones is shot to bits.
