I've judged some entertaining fights w/ controversial decisions (Barrera-Morales I, Trinidad-De La Hoya, De La Hoya-Mosley I, Hagler-Leonard) Tonight I'll do Dawson Johnson. The fight is easily findable on youtube if you want to join scoring with me....Enjoy!
Round 1: 10-9 Dawson...Clearly Round 2: 10-9 Dawson...Close Round 3: 10-9 Johnson...Close Round 4: 10-9 Dawson...Close Round 5: 10-9 Johnson...Close Round 6: 10-9 Dawson...Close Halfway through: 58-56 Dawson Round 7: 10-9 Dawson...Clearly Round 8: 10-9 Dawson...Clearly Round 9: 10-9 Johnson...Close Round 10: 10-9 Johnson...Clearly Round 11: 10-9 Johnson...Close Round 12: 10-9 Johnson...Clearly 114-114 Draw
the old man won and he got robbed, they could of atleast given him a draw i would of been at peace with that
I had rounds 1,7, and 8 clearly going to Dawson. I had rounds 10 and 12 clearly going to Johnson. I'm honestly very surprised at the ratio of people who think johnson won over dawson...I think hagler has a much better case for beating leonard than johnson does for beating dawson. Anyways, close fight, could go either way IMO.
The bitter taste occupied my pallet at the end of the fight overruled my better judgement for the most part, but on review I have to go with my initial scorring of the fight: dawson (115-113) johnson. Johnson was not robbed of a victory he was robbed of a fair decision.
At worst, it should've been a draw but the 116-112 scoring by the judges were a disgrace IMO. I mean come on. Johnson took the fight to Dawson, backed him up, was busy AND effective, and had him badly hurt a couple of times.
