So I did pullups for the first time in probably 5 months, now my arms are very sore, probably more so than they have ever been.. I usually just work through soreness as it is usually more mild than right now, should I hit the bag and do my boxing workout still, what do you all think? Not going to the gym again till saturday when I will most likely get some sparring in, have a fight the 18th, hopefully my arms are in good shape by Sat.

get some rest and eat some proteins your muscles will heal them self even when im sore ill still hit the bags i think its makin my work out that more effective but if its gettin to the point that it feels like an injury stop, you kno your body and you kno your limits go off that

It's up for you to judge. Hopefully you stretch consistently, so your muscles aren't gonna tighten up, which could result in injury during exertion. My opinion is that you should train even if you're sore; it will only make you stronger. But if you seriously feel like you need to rest, then do it.

soreness means your growing. Your body does need time to grow, but you could workout through it. Just make sure you give your body enough time to recover. Learn how long your body needs to really recover. I'm use to lifting a lot, working out, etc so I don't get to sore. IF I do though...I know my body only takes 1 day to recover. So, I workout 5 days a week, and take 2 days off (not hardly ever consecutively though).
Remember though, food, and rest are more important than exercise will ever be. Exercise is important, but without food/ rest it's meaningless.

I say layoff or your gonna get your ass handed to you in sparring. I know from experince, if you get in the ring with sore or tight muscles you speed seriously declines

The first time you hit a muscle group after a long time away from those extercises is always extra sore. Its just normal, it should be fine in a few days.

It is strange you havent done any right before the fight, but is probably best not to do anymore so that you wont be sore on the day of your fight.

but getting your ass handed to you makes you tougher. to not spar just because you are sore seems week to me.

i could see if you had torn something or was injured.

    but not sore.

ease up, nothing too heavy or intense untill soreness diminishes, good to take vit c , vit e, and 4-1 ratio carb protein drink as well as l glutamine powder after training for recovery, and try and keep training gradually progressive, dont do too much after a layoff build it up, good luck

Thats how you'll get torn and injured muscles is training as usual when your really sore. Sparring sore is a very bad idea especially.

BTW getting you ass handed to you doesnt make you tougher it can destroy your confidence and THAT can make you lose the fight, experience or not. Train smart not dumb.
