i feel that you haven't watched pacquiao before his ledwaba fight. most of pacquiao's fight then was war. and 34 years is nothing if you would look at the ring age. pac started at age 16 while jmm started at almost age 20. so by the the time they fought each other, they basically has the same ring age.

Actually, and this is all opinions on our part, I think Pac was at his peak PHYSICAL prime when he first fought Barrera and JMM. This version of Pac we see now is a little past peak, but with improved skills and experience. Either version is formidable by any standards.

JMM was probably already slightly past his peak by the first fight, heck he was 30 yrs old in a division where 30 is considered on the way out. Great skills and adedication to training and his sport has kep him from eroding too much. Needless to say, JMM is a formidable adversary for anyone in the 126-135 divisions.

Pacs intangible, as you say, is great athletic ability. In other words, incredibly fast reflexes, handspeed, coordination, etc. he is an incredible physical specimen. Those intangibles are a big part of boxing and ANY boxing fan worth his salt ought to know how to discern that. Boxing is not all about Skills and technical ability, ask Cotto and Margarito...

34 yrs is 34 yrs. Just like 28 yrs is 28 yrs. IN boxing your age doesn't mean as much as how you fight, the style you have and the ring exprience you've earned. JMM hasn't taken much damage in his 34 yrs....most of the damage he has taken came from the hands of PAC. PAC on the other hand at 28 has been in NUMEROUS wars with EM, MAB and JMM which can eliminate yrs that a more polished boxer would otherwise have.

MAB I - Totally one sided fight in Pac's favor. Not a war.
JMM I - A real war broke out in this one.
    EM I - Another war.
EM II - This was a blowout. EM's heart was there, his body was not.
EM III- Total wash in Pac's favor. Neither EM's heart or body showed up.
MAB II - Completely safety first approach by MAB. Not a war by any standard.
JMM II - Another war and very competitive fight.

Three wars and two where while in the ring with JMM. Out of all those fights the only other war was EM I. Again, that's strictly my opinion since other people may have different opinions of what constitutes a war. So unless he was damaged pre-Ledwaba, he does not have more physical damage accumulated than an older JMM.

What I am trying to say is that I do not see Pac as having A LOT of wear and tear on him, even though he is a very aggressive fighter. In a lot of ways thats a really good thing, means we get to see him stick around longer and be able to put up great performances.

I look at it like this...Tarver caught Jones at the right time. Pac caught Morales and Barrera at the right time. Morales showed how great he was by getting the win, and showed us how far he fell in the last 2. Marquez was prime for the first fight, and is aging like fine wine still today. What's worst. Pac giving/beating those guys when they were past their best. Guys just seem to have forgotten the Barrera who fought Naseem, Mckinney and others.

Right on Bro!:good PAC may have peaked early but I'm not so sure. I just think he's turned his "energizer bunny" switch back a notch. He's less reckless and more composed. You still see the speed and stamina that made him one to watch but he's fighting more intelligently and setting up his offense rather than just being busy.

JMM was 30 but a VERY young 30.....if he was past his Physical prime it was hard to tell.....JMM at that point was ever imporoving and showing why the other two great Mexican champs in MAB and EM avoided him....PAC caught the very best overall JMM in their 1st meeting...IMO.

But I do agree at the lower weights 30 is pretty old, but not for guys like JMM..his style and counterpunching ability keep him young and fresh so he can compete and dominate the younger lions fighting for his spot.

Thanks for the Break down....You're absolutely correct that PAC hasn't had too many wars, but enought with some serious foes to shave a year or two off his career. I mean....the 3 wars he had were with 2 future great ATG's....that's gotta take a bit more out of you than going at it with a top 10 fighter....or it would seem.:good

either way you can't judge a fighter's prime by his age. You have to compare his performances in the ring.

I thought Marquez looked like a better fighter in the 2nd fight than in the first. Maybe the 14 week training camp had something to do with that. Unfortunately for Marquez, he was up against a better fighter than in the first fight as well, even though Pac has lost some of his speed.

as for wars, Pac's fight against Sasakul is kind of a punishing one, and Pac's fight against Agapito Sanchez was pretty brutal while it lasted.

Pac one dimensional beat or giving EM, MB, and JJM a fight

    or

EM, MB, and JJM beat or giving a one dimensional PAC a fight because they were too a little past their best

    which one is more worst?

I think a good OG champion like EM, MB, and JJM being given a fight by a guy who only throws a right jabs and big straight left is more worst because these guys are well experience fighters
