After reading all the posts I gotta give my 2cents worth.
Lennox Lewis was the best HW champ since Ali, he beat everyone that got in the pro ring with him.
I wish somehow Riddick Bowe wouldda had the cajones to fight him. Heck knows Lennox tried hard enough to get the fat coward in the ring. I feel he should be soon hearing Arise Sir Lennox!!!!!!!!!!

Lewis has beaten too many Oldies, limited opponents and had tough fights against fighters he should have beaten easily. His Resume is decent but thats it.

I like his resume quite a bit. He beat everyone in the time that mattered other than Bowe. The era was not as weak as some claim, much better than today. A lot of those guys would have won belts in todays division. He fought up and comers and destroyed them, he fought big names and did the same. Would he have beat a prime Tyson? 50/50, I'd say he beats a prime Holy for sure and anybody else after Holmes peak, no body today touches him in his prime, not close. His resume is not Alis, but there era was special. He beat everyone available in his own.

The reason he fought Holy and Tyson past their best is simple. Neither guy fought Lewis until they really had to.

    Pre-prison Tyson - Lewis wasn't around.
Post prison Tyson - King had no intention of putting Tyson against Lewis.

Holy faced him when there was really no other choice.

The McCall loss was the opportunity used to effectively freeze Lewis out of the mix, which is why he had to fight a string of

Mercer, Morrison, Briggs type fighters to get another shot. He effectively cleared out the division.

All contender level, all big hitters. Beat them all.

Moorer and Holy were swapping belts, who else didn't he fight?

    Moorer? Maybe.
Foreman? Didn't want to fight Lewis.
Bowe? We know what happened there.

    NOTE:

Just read this on a site that rhymes with tax roxing regarding Lewis and the hall of fame.

Deeds, not perceptions, should be the hallmark of a Hall of Famer and in that regard Lewis is a slam-dunk choice. He is one of only four men to defeat every man he ever faced (Tunney, Marciano and Johannson being the others) and one of four heavyweights whose championship arc extended more than 10 years (Louis, Ali and Foreman). His 14 defenses in three reigns ranks only behind Louis, Holmes and Ali and he defeated 12 men who either held or would hold versions of the four "major" belts. Add his victories over Donovan "Razor" Ruddock, Andrew Golota, Gary Mason, Tyrell Biggs, Phil Jackson, Zjelko Mavrovic, David Tua, Francois Botha, Michael Grant, Ossie Ocasio and Glenn McCrory to his title ledger and one would have a 23-2-1 (16 KO) record against his best opposition. A Hall of Famer must demonstrate long-term dominance over his weight class and on that front Lewis is more than qualified

Look i'm not saying his resume is rubbish, but it could have been better and IMO he would not beat prime Tyson or Prime Holyfield. I am from the UK but I am not blinded by that, don't get me wrong I would rate Lewis among the best Heavyweights of alltime just not in the Top 10.

I love how all the haters claim these fighters were shot when Lewis faced them. If that is the case then Lewis deserves kudos over all them because it seems he was in the mix or at the top of the heap for a decade whereas these guys seems unable to string a prime together that lasts more than two years.

Lewis stopped plenty of potential primes in their tracks - time after time this guy, that guy was promoted as the future of the dvision only to run into Lewis.

That even makes his resume greater. He fought high risk, low reward fighters, those whom are not so popular fighters whom nobody else would like to fight.

While Holyfield fought the big named fighters (Foreman, Holmes, Bowe) but Lewis fought the fighters who beat those big named fighters (Morrison, McCall, Golota).

The Ruddock and Golota wins were really what impressed me of Lewis. Ruddock was though to be the best HW back in 92 after how he dealt with a prime Tyson. Same with Golota (after what he did to Bowe). Lewis took them on and beat them to pulps.
