Morrison was due to fight us at one stage and as I communicated I believe to Dunky he was not going to duck us but I think his loss to Lynes took him out of contention. Shame.
Just what is the situation with the Commonwealth Title then.... Who is the mandatory challenger? Don't think Ajose has defended it since Feb 2008 - can you confirm when he needs to defend it by next or risk being stripped? Does he plan to vacate it? With respect Olu I haven't forgotten about Ajose's wins over Pryce and Nuumbembe, etc. The fact they were some time ago now is part of the reason I have voiced some frustration over his lack of progress recently although I wish him all the best in securing an eliminator.
This is not an unusual situation. Remember Peter Oboh when he held was it the British or Commonwealth Light Heavyweight title are no-one would face him. If you are frustrated think how we feel when your hero Lynes, Bami, Barnes, Witter etc refuse contests against us. We are ready to defend the Commonwealth title at any time we just need a contender to step up to the plate. We can get someone from Africa the problem is SKY will not accept and rather we face a Brit. No Brit wants to face us.
As per previous, my best advice would be that Ajose should think about getting over the the U.S. The division is not particularly deep over here outside Hatton and Witter (maybe Lynes at a pinch) and there are no other fighters over whom a victory would meaningfully further his career. Plus, I think he lacks the big name and promotional backing to entice name overseas fighters to come to the UK and take him on in the same way that, say, Hatton did prior to his title shot. In the states, there are a number of promoters who would probably take him on and get him at least a meaningful eliminator prior prior to a title shot. As it is, if he waits it out long enough as WBC #3 he probably is going to get a shot eventually. However, he's probably going to have to travel for it and my fear is that he'll be woefully unprepared. OK Bradley (assuming he's still champ at that point) only has one big win but he is a good little fighter and even Witter by himself is several leagues above the Pryce's or Nuumbembe's of this world, even allowing for the fact that sme of them were bigger guys.
Wasn't Tony Oakey prepared to face Peter Oboh.... thought Oboh got stripped of his British Light Heavyweight Title for refusing to defend it. Allowed Oakey to warm up for bout before withdrawing at last minute and left Frank Maloney & co to apologise to those fans who travelled to see the fight.
I think those in the "know" know that Oboh would destroy TonY Oakey Cokey. Oboh decided not to fight because he had been messed about so often so why bother beating up another brit for peanuts and not fight again for ages. I did not agree with what he did might I add but I think I understood.
Oboh was good but lacked bottle to fight decent opponents. The 'everyone is scared of me' act was a joke. Wonder why all these avoided fighters like to play it safe not fighting or just going in against very limited opponents while they say no one wants to go in the ring with them but they never go and fight other dangerous fighters, they prefer to sit and rot instead of proving them selves. Hilarious cowards.
Regardless of why Oboh decided not to fight the way he went about it was thoroughly unprofessional. To allow a fellow pro to prepare both physically and mentally for a fight KNOWING you weren't going to go through with it - turn up, allow your opponent to get changed and warm up before refusing to fight at the very last minute practically amounts to sabotaging a contest. Thats no way to make a protest if that was Oboh's intention.
:| :| :| 'Nobody wants to fight me'  :fire 'Your all cowards' 'I don't want to fight you, you look tough' :-( :-( :-(
I remember him calling out Junior Witter shortly before he lost to Tim Bradley Imagine the press conference with those two jokers - in fact don't. You will lose all interest in boxing and will go and watch Eastenders.
