Watching this again, AM could have been DQed for that last shot. I've seen it done for less, e.g. Kostya Tszyu.

to reply to the topic. Alot of people picked Cotto to win but knew Margarito had a good chance to pull off the upset. I though Margo would be competitive until about round 8, but that eventally the accumulation of damage would get to him and slow him down and that Cotto would win a UD. I did mention that there was a possibility that Margo would win by stoppage, but my prediction was Cotto by UD. I was wrong. I knew Margarito's chin was granite and that he wasn't gonna go down but what he did was different. He took flush power shots on the chin and didn't even slow down. That was something else. I remember telling my friends during the fight that Margo looked like you could hit him with a baseball bat and he wouldn't take a step back. Cotto is supposed to have that kind of power that accumulates and eventually wears fighters down. In this fight he couldn't do it. On one part because he didn't have an effective body attack (credit to Margo here), but also because MArgo's conditioning and chin were just that damn good. In the rematch i think Cotto could win but he would have to load up less on his punches but still hit hard enough to keep Margo off him, accept the fact that Margo is not gonna get badly hurt, and go for a decision. tough task. You have to hit hard enough to stop your opponent in his tracks but not too hard so you don't get tired. Margarito was on a mission on that night though. Very few fighters would have beaten him.

Margarito is a very good fighter. I underrated him. But taht doesn't mean that he is invincible. Those who correctly picked Margarito before the fight, and rated him properly back then, are for the most part now overrating him.

How stupid is it to hate someone based on what others say? At least with the hate of Mayweather, his mouth made a lot of that possible. his MOUTH also hyped Margarito as well.

I really like both fighters and I picked Cotto simply for the fact that he was undefeated...other than that, I thought it was a toss up.

    Great fight though!!
