...Would this fight be one of the most watched in boxing history? Both fighters are extremely popular in their own country, obviously, but beyond that, both also have a large global fanbase. Pacquiao has a lot of Asian fans and Hatton has millions in the English speaking world. Both are even popular in America. With the technological advancements, more people than ever will have the chance to see this fight. As big as Louis/Schmeling II was, the majority of the world didn't know about it. Same with other superfights, such as Ali/Frazier I or going well back, Johnson/Jeffries. I think it would do good numbers in America alone, but globally, it should do amazingly well. Let's just hope both Hatton and Pacquiao both win their next fights and they meet in front of 100,000 people at Wembley.
On the actual fight, back then I thought Hatton would win easily. Now I think Pacquiao takes him in about 8 rounds. His southpaw stance, style, power and speed is just going to be too much for Hatton. Having Mayweather Sr. in his corner won't give him enough of an edge to beat Pacquiao. He could have Mayweather Jr. in the ring with him and he'd still struggle. Should be an entertaining fight though and I do think it will happen. I just hope Pacquiao beats De La Hoya, otherwise the fight won't mean as much as it should.
At the time it deserved to be laughed at because Hatton was preparing for a fight at 147 and Pacquiao was still at 130 but obviously circumstances have now changed dramatically with Pacquiao preparing for a fight at 147 and Hatton at 140.
Or that they saw something some others didnt see and they deserve the last laugh? I remember when 130 was too big for Pac, 135 would be too big for Pac etc. I knew that the whole weight issue wasnt as big a deal as people made it out to be, I firmly believe that he could have hanged with JWW when he was 130. He sparred with WW's in the gym and the power difference is not as big as people think.
All depends on how both perform in their next fights, if both get the victories then this would be HUGE.
Gimme a break the main ones at that time calling for that fight was Pacdbest and other *******s such as himself so if they happen to predict anything it's not to be taken seriously.
I don't take the dramatic weight jump serious ... but I do think that his speed would carry up to light welterweight because he didn't show signs of wear after moving up to lightweight and he weighed in at 147 during the fight and he's walking around at 150 (or during training camp) I think the fight between Pac and Hatton would be great for boxing ... Something deep down inside of me wants Pac to knock out DLH ... I wouldn't be surprised if he got a stoppage on DLH ... and i'm not a die hard fan of either ... so don't get it confused ...
Just because PacdBest is a fanatic doesnt mean he doesnt know boxing. Ive seen his posts and analysis, he is quite good although extremely bias. I once suggested a Pac vs Gatti at 135...people laughed because apparantly Gatti was "too big". Quite frankly im tired of people thinking their smart when really their confidence in their knowledge of boxing lies within not knowing real boxing at all. Heck just look at the Khan vs Pac threads, many people picked Khan cos he was "too big". Guys like Pacdbest maybe just saw size as one attribute that was outweighed by the rest of the other attributes? Such as skill, power, speed, stamina etc?
The interest won't be high enough, at least not as it's supposed to be. Pac will most likely go down to 135 and Hatton says retirement is an option if he doesn't win his next fight.
Very true, but sometimes a fight between two losers could be as good as a fight between two winners. Think about two semifinals in any other sport and just assume that Pac and Hatton are going to fight for bronze. There is another think that can add exitement and that is if any of them anounce his retirement, being this fight his last, even though he might not retire after all.
should be a great fight...doesnt matter if both are coming of losses, because both will be hungry to win again.
