Have you ever looked at Ali, or Joe Louis on their late comebacks when they were Vitlai's age? Peter would defeat those versions of Ali and Louis.

We all agree Vitali's layoff puts a huge question mark to this fight...but please, let's remember who Klitschko is fighting : SAM PETER !!!!

He's not like MIKE TYSON which is at least 3 times better than that fat Albert and he sure ain't in the same league as a FRAZIER....

Ali came back to fight future legends...Vitali is coming back to fight a paper champ that compares ''talent wise P4P'' to guys like Edison Miranda and Ricardo Mayorga !!!

SO PLEASE LET'S KEEP THAT IN MIND....

I think that the author makes a vaild point here: history tells us that older combacking fighters seldom succeed in regaining momentum. Only truly greats (in recent history Leonard and to some degree Hopkins come to my mind) overcome the odds. If he's in prime shape, I therefore would tend to favour Peter over Klitschko at this point.

When fighters come back after retiring, they usually have far more ring wars behind them than Klitschko. He only had 37 pro fights, just one over 12 rounds and was hit hard on very few occasions. Plus he always stayed in shape. Those are factors that make his case quite different from other comeback fighters.

That and the fact that he's 6'8", still about 250 lbs, kept himself in the gym for the last four years, fights in a kickboxing stance, can fight dirty, and is now pi$$ed off at Peter for the belt yanking incident. Peter is toast.

Vitali Klitschko only lost 2 fights and they both were on a technicality ... he's never been beaten into submission, never knocked down, and was up on cards both times that the two injuries occured.

Actually when Mayweather moved to 140 the top fighters were:

    Tyszu
    Judah
    Mitchell
    Mayweather
    Hatton
    Harris
    Gatti
    Corley
    Witter
    Ndou

Now Mayweather beat 5 from that list and he beat Hatton who beat the no1, and Hatton beat Maussa who beat Harris. So in effect Mayweather cleaned out that division

Muhamed Abdulaev, Lovemore N'dou, Ricardo Torres were never top men at the weight

I doubt if the out of shape Peter can handle the Vitali Klitschko jab ... I haven't seen any fighter get past that jab ... and I know that he doesn't hit harder than Lennox Lewis.

Despite the 4yr layoff ... Klitschko still looks like he's in good shape and his boxing skills will never leave him ... he also has more experience on the championship level than Peter.

Don't forget Vitali also likes to work the body of his opponents. He's not strictly a head hunter like Wladimir. In the Kirk Johnson fight, he delivered some of the most devastating body shots I'd seen since Mike Tyson. Same in the fight with Danny Williams. Vitali enjoys punching to the chest of his opponents. I remember seeing a picture of a left hook he threw at Johnsons chest that caved in his rib cage. It was nasty.

Exactly, the difference here is that in this case, Vitali is in better shape than the current champ. Also consider Peter is an ABC belt holder and not a linear undisputed champ like in the other cases. Peter also was floored by McCline who is feather fisted.

We know how shitty Peter is, the only unknown is how much Vitali has left. So there is a decent point to be made that he could have slipped alot, that is reflexes or punch resistance could have slipped greatly. That we will find out in less than a week.

But considering all things, I dont think Vitali would comeback if he wasnt confident in his abilities and if he didnt think he had "it" in sparring and training.

No that's so laughable I don't know why I am responding. You are WRONG WRONG WRONG! Mayrunner was an 8-1 favorite over the one time fluke Baldlomir-and we all know how Floyd ran from him in the ring like God himself was after him!:rofl

    I'm no Mayweather fan mate.

But it's a FACT Baldomir was ranked at #1 when PBF fought him.

You believe (and I agree) Baldo was in no way the best welterweight when PBF fought him, but this is our OPINION. Fact is he WAS #1 at the time.
