Ive noticed this, and its not just on these boards. Whenever s-1 "new" comes along, they can "bring new life to the division". do people really mean "they can beat the klitschkos because we hate them"? like with vitali's win...instead of saying how good he is, people just talk about how sh*t the division is that he was able to win in the way that he did. seen/heard it happen with sam peter, lamon brewster, even hasim rahman (because vitali was 'afraid', lol) ?!?!

The Klitschkos always had a lot of haters, never understood why myself. Awesome respectful athletes that are bringing some entertainment and much needed to talk to a lacking division. If both weren't here who will everyone be discussing in the division?

Vitali's accomplishment yesterday was truly remarkable, regardless of what quality opposition there may or may not be in the division.

Very true statement from the opening poster. If Peter would have won you would be seeing alot more enthusiasm from the fans but obviously they have built up hatred for the Klitschko brothers who as Scar pointed out are giving the fans something to talk about within the heavyweight division.

Immediately after watching the world's premiere heavyweight (Wlad) prod Sultan Ibragimov and Tony Thompson to death in two of the most soporific "fights" in human history back-to-back, did you not feel this was indicative of a poor division?

I felt it most definitely was.

Thank God Vitali is back now so we can see some proper heavyweight fighting.

i dunno theres always gonna be undeserving scrubs getting title shots. at least there has been since ive been watching (about 20 years). my dad tells me it was much the same in the 70's/80's as well, sometime u get a guy that just got there thru politics, or a savior that was just hyped for some other dumb reason (usually money). wlad took care of both of them, so i dont see how that can be a knock on him/ or a knock on the whole division.

Your whinge/post ratio is really something, you need to get out a bit more and get some enjoyment out of life, instead of pouring your misery on the ESB forums.

    Agree.

And its not that the division is that bad, its that we now have a very rare occurence where two overly large guys are not only big and strong as hell with huge size advantages, they are both very athletic and talented. Its never been seen before, to have such big guys be so good.

Their dominance is not a sign that everyone else is so bad, but that they are that good, given that they have such size advantages, and are also as good or even more skilled than everyone else.

Hard combination to deal with; extreme size, power, AND skills.

Yes, but real champions dispatch them in style, or at least try to. Look at the difference in the way Vitali dealt with Sanders and Williams when he was champion. For Ibragimov read Sanders (I actually think Sanders was a better fighter), for Williams read Thompson. And Wlad didn't have the mindset to dispatch them like a real heavyweight champion, he prodded them into submission in two of the worst heavyweight fights of recent times.

I agree, the division is actually quite good.

    Wladimir Klitschko
    Vitali Klitschko
    Ruslan Chagaev
    Nicolay Valuev
    Alexander Povetkin
    David Haye
    Juan Carlos Gomez

These guys don't know what they're talking about, there just is no American heavyweight that can deal with these guys, that does not make the division bad. :good

Those of us that knows boxing knew that Samuel Peter was a rather poor fighter, it's a mystery to me that he got the WBC title:yikes

maybe because that would have set up wlad-peter II next year to crown a new undisputed champion. vitali winning just delays this shitfest even further.

if he goes after valuev i lose interest once and for all in this division.

I don't see why the hate. Wlad ko% is about 83% 45 kos in 51 wins and Vitali's is damn near 95% 35ko in 36 wins! How is this NOT exciting? Lennox's Ko% was under 75% and Tyson while beating "bums" on his way up was good his career ko% was just 75% also. Ali was something in the low 60%s if not lower. My point is if it is excitement you like, how can you NOT like the Klits? Plus Wlad is a bit chinny so how is that NOT exciting at anytime he can KO you or you can KO him! Talk about a good watch. I just think people have hate because they are looking for perfection and guess what, those people will never be happy watching boxing so just let them whine like the school girls they are and ignore them, just like their moms did when they where little.

I think it's just simply amazing that Vitali could come out of 4 years of retirement and beat up a HW who is considered to be the number 2 guy in the division without even taking a tune up fight. Oh, and Peter did not even win a single round against Vitali by my count. I mean it was a total destruction, and Peter quit on his stool. Unbelievable performance for Vitaly!

Vitali did good, he's definitely a true champion.

I don't want to trash his moment by saying that Peter is one of the WORST champions to ever hold a title.. but he beat Peter as soundly as you can.:deal
