JCG is a solid HW and anybody should be hard pressed to name 5 better hws. He has very good decisive wins over mccall and virchis to name a couple. No way tony thompson would have clear victories over those guys (to the poster who likened jcg to tt). The guy can box flat out. That said, VK should be the favorite but who else is there to fight? I'll take JCG over chagaev (if that guy's gonna fight again).

Sanders had better handspeed than Gomez and a lot more power obviously. Sanders straight left was a brilliant punch.

Well, any fight with Vitaly will sell huge in Germany irrespective of his opponent.Lets be honest Gomez has no name recognition at all in Germany. The causual sport fan here in Germany has never heard his name.He is no big draw here in Germany. For example Valuev is a much bigger draw than Gomez who cant even compete with fighters like Krasniqui,Hoffman,Chagaev,or Coc in terms of name recognition in Germany.

As for your statement that Gomez is ready to take on Vitaly I for one very much doubt it.
Gomez can call himself lucky that he had to fight the extremely slow and skilless Virchis in an eliminator fight instead of someone like Dimitrenko.Styles make styles. Virchis' style suited Gomez very well.
Vitaly is a bigger and much tougher nut to crack.IMO Gomez is out of his shoes against Vitaly who will punish him for a couple of rounds before he brutally takes him out of action.
Gomez is just too fat and predictable for Vitaly.

Klitschko will find his chin and stop him early. You can be sure of that.

I would have given Gomez a slight edge over Sam just because well, the skill differential would be tremendous. But Klitschko is just much bigger and much sharper and faster. He'd find the chin.

Different fight ...but Vitali will train for speed and a southpaw....Gomez is a good fighter and the pace of the fight will be different but Vitali should prevail

No way, Gomez got a good chin...

Gomez has fought two eliminators and deserves a shot at the title now. He's a legitimate contender. Also I expect him to give Vitali a much tougher fight than Peter.
I give probs to Vitali for coming back the way he did, but the worst thing that could happen to the division now is if he keeps his belt hostage. He should very soon make up his mind about defending his belt or giving it up. If he decides to continue he should fight at least two times a year, and he should relinquish the belt when he gets injured again (maybe with an emeritus status again so he can get an immediate title-shot when he's healthy again).

Who has JCG beaten at heavyweight. He struggled with past his prime McCall. There will be no upset.

Virchis was never anything special, just a hard puncher. A pudgy Gomez proved that. Vitali's a completely different story. If you're looking for fighters that could potentially beat Vitali keep looking cuz Gomez, as talented as he is, would not be on that list.

To be honest I don't like Gomez who in my eyes is the complete opposite of a gentleman.
But please do not underestimate JCG as a boxer - in his fight vs. Virchis he was brilliant. Virchis has about the same size and punching power like Vitali and Gomez took him down. JCG has power combined with boxing skills.
Gomez vs. VK will be a very thrilling and entertaining fight!

If VK comes in prepared for the fight against Gomez like he was when he fought against Sanders (lefty too) then Im sure he'll win.
Gomez would be the fighter against which VK needs to prove that he is realy in good shape. VK was brilliant vs Peter, BUT it was too easy for him to eliminate Peter. The more I look at the two brothers the more I notice that Vitaly simply smothers you with his agressiveness. VK waits and picks his counterpunching, which makes his opponents think more before punching, causing them to be less agressive. This quality I miss in Wlad.

Im looking forward to this one: Gomez vs VK !! The first 6 rounds should be awesome boxing!
