At least when Corrie Sanders fought Vitali, he really came after him hard, especially in round 1 and 3. Vitali was hurt on a couple of occasions, and impressively fought back. Kirk Johnson lasted two rounds, and Danny Williams and Sam Peter were just completely and utterly outclassed..they never really hit Vitali with much of anything and just assumed a boring defensive mode in a one sided fight. I thought Peter would be more aggressive like Sanders..what a disappointment. Everyone says Sanders was overweight but he was still throwing meaningful punches in the 8th round despite taking an awful beating, and never even went down. The Vitali/Sanders fight was a very good fight and very underrated.

Did Sanders ever look like he was in that great of shape? His hands were still quick as anything. The difference was that Vitali does not like getting hit and when he was hurt, he immediately responded and nailed Sanders...

I agree Vitali?Sanders was a good fight! Actually I think Vitali was very tired after Sanders fight! He hardly could put his hands up after ref stoped it!

    Credit to Sanders!

LOL, Johnson, Sanders, and Williams all put up a better fight than Peter did. Johnson tried to land some big shots on Vitali. Peter did nothing but get his ass kicked and quit. Both Sanders and Williams took their beatings and went out on their shield they did not quit.

yup. watched the fight again yesterday. not bad for a guy who's main love is golf! sanders must have one wicked swing at the course. he probably just straightens that left hand, curls his fist, and tees off with it. he dont need no club. seriously he was a class act, even shook hands with wladimir after getting pummeled by vitali. true sportsman but man he was fun to watch when he was ready to knock some heads off. my favorite has to be his fight with rahman.

Sanders fought WAY better than Peter I have to admit here. He stunned Vitali a few times and was actually there in the fight exchanging and landing some solid shots. Loved that fight and remember how I was waiting for it.

honestly i thought he looked soft vs. wlad. man did Sanders take a beating. There were a couple rounds where he didn't seem to know where his corner was. but he kept going.

Very good point. Sanders was a true warrior in that fight and took his beating like one.

Have any of Peter shots even landed of Vitali's face? All I saw was the redness on Vitali's chest from getting punched there.

Sanders woulda beat Vitali had he been the he same shape he was for Wlad. He scored a KD in the first round but the ref bottled it.

Sanders didn't miss on all his bombs. He connected on a huge on at the end of the first round, and several more in the third round. Honestly, the third round of Vitali/Sanders was one of the best rounds of boxing I have seen, with both guys going toe to toe throwing huge punches. Vitali did enough damage to Sanders to slow him down a little...but again, Sanders was still throwing dangerous punches in round 8. As for Sanders being overweight, how did that affect his hand speed? His hand speed looked lethal, just like vs. Wlad. Are you saying if he was in better shape he would have had better accuracy? I don't see how his shape was a factor in the first 3 or 4 rounds. Vitali was just more resourceful and came back more than his younger brother, who looked like a deer caught in the headlights once he got hit hard.

Forget ButterBean, if there ever was a "King of the 4 rounders" it was Sanders. In the first few rounds he would be dangerous for almost any heavyweight. Exceptional handspeed for a heavyweight combined with power and the southpaw stance, very hard to deal with. His straight left was a brilliant punch.

    That fight was amazing

Sanders had one hell of a chin, he was a machine with the amount of punishment he took, Vitali was too with regards to his ruthlessness. Sanders gave Vitali a good fight too. I think this fight is underrated, it was good entertainment.

sanders was only 10lbs heavier in the fight against Vitali than he was against Wlad...not that big of a difference to say he was out of shape and didn't show up in shape. sanders could not land those bomb shots like he did against Wlad because Vitali is great with keep distance.
