If Peter wants to try and come back and be successful, He MUST get a new team and take his training and career much more serious:bbb :bbb
Thanks for the response guys. This fight was real important to me, and I always enjoyed analyzing the mental aspect of the sport, it was great to really flesh it out and write about it.
Great job. I love the mental game. Fights arent really WON at Pressers, but fights can be LOST Once again...good thread
Yes . . . that's why the guy quit. Peter became frustrated and desperate as the rounds go by unable to take off and do something against the bigger opponent.
I enjoy analyzing the psychological aspect of boxing, and I think any real fight enthusiast enjoys that also. Boxing isnt just punching a guy over and over.
I didnt analyze anything that I wasnt seeing, nor did I make assertions that were outlandish. I just viewed the fight from a purely mental perspective, and a lot of people seemed to think I did a good job of it. I wasnt trying to read Peter's mind, I just based my assertions on what I was seeing and how he was reacting. Judging by the outcome of the fight and how he fought as well as his prior behavior, I believe I was accurate enough.
Mexican Jew: I think you're right. Peter is ruined as a fighter. I don't see him recovering from this beating. I could be mistaken as he is still young and can learn from this loss to rebuild himself - but it doesn't seem likely without a decent trainer in his corner. RE: initmidation: One of the greats of ring psychology Jake the Snake Roberts always said that you don't have to be loud and shout to get a man's attention. If you speak quietly with a purpose - they will listen closer.
After the first round his will was broken imo. He realised what a terrible stylistic matchup he had gotten himself into, and that Vitali really was a genuine champ fighter.
I agree, but I also agree w/Mexijew that the fight was halfway won before they even stepped into the ring because Peter was already half-convinced he was toast. The calm, menacing demeanor that Vitali displayed in the pressers and the weigh in, etc...in all interactions w/Peter Big Klit visibly projected an air of stark, brutal inevitability...like lookin' at bad weather a few miles out about to whup your ass... I'm scarin' myself...:scaredas: :yep
your right. Like I have said. You cant win a fight at a press conf, But you can lose. Peter was very uncomfortable with everything. I also think he was shaky mentally at the fact that he was facing a Klitschko again. I think Wlad took alot out of him. Before the Wlad fight Peters confidence was SKY HIGH. He was undefeated and KOing guys big time. I think he had a hard time dealing with that 1st loss and facing a Klitschko again brought it all back
