Vargas vs Marquez Vargas vs Campas Vargas vs Clarke vargas vs Winky Vargas vs Ike Vargas vs Tito i consider those fights where vargas was in his prime and at his best.... a lot more then just your two fights, and the vargas that shows up to anyone one of those fights dismantles and outboxes williams imo.
Was a fighter that when as he was coming up, showed very good skill, power, and fighting intelligance, he could fight going forward or box going back, could throw and did throw just about every punch in the book... and often had a good and comitted body attack.... when you watch vargas fights anything past trinidad however... you will slowly see a worse and worse vargas, almost by fight... its crazy how it happened. Most will attribute it to his BRUTAL stoppage loss to trinidad in which he was floored 5 times (he doesnt remember most of the fight), on his complete ballooning up in weight between fights, and on his bulged L-5 disc in his back and degenerating condition along with it, but to ME personally, i think a big big big part of his steady and quick decline fight by fight is his abuse of alchohal outside the ring... god bless him. anyways... in 1999 he was a top 10 p4p fighter by ring magazine, and fought Winky Wright, Ike Quartey, Ross Thompson and Felix Trinidad all within a year, in his early early 20's and for his 18,19,20,21st fights as a pro i believe... Wasnt the biggest, wasnt the most powerful, wasnt the fastest, but he put it all together and was a good fighter, and an exciting fighter... :good
Vargas was past his prime against Tito and those earlier fights were too early in his career to be prime.
gotta go with El Feroz in this one. Can't say KO until I see how Williams reacts to getting hurt, which I haven't seen yet, but I think even without a KO Vargas lands effective shots and eventually backs him up and bullies him.
Vargas is one of my all time favorite fighters to watch, so I think there is a big chance that my judgement is a bit clouded. Vargas UD (holding back a little to not be so bias)
Yeah, and on his best night ever he gets KO'd if he didn't low blow Vargas. One of the worst, most blatant examples of outright cheating I've ever seen. Should have been DQ'd on the second one. Trinidad irritates the **** out of me, always short-circuiting great fights by cheating his way out of trouble when it's not going his way.
