Bull****, you know exactly that wouldn't happen. Toney fears nobody.

Why did he turn down the fight when he desperately needed ANYTHING then?

He's an old, fat former middleweight. Give him a break, to even be fighting top 20 heavyweights is amazing :patsch

Exactly i see it the same way, he can give Vitali fits but me must first get his ass into shape and beat Thompson.

Toney isn't a complete idiot though, he knows stylewise the Klitschkos are close to impossible to beat for him. He's not gonna go in there with someone who he knows will likely put him in a coma

it must be possible toney is afraid of german passport officials.

for fourteen years there have been champs in 168/175/199/200 + in germany yet toney has won 1 title fight in those 14 years and that was v a east european in his own country.

why has toney not got on a plane and fought in his opponents backyard in all that time?

I'm not discussing the situation now, this is right after his fight with Ruiz when he was highly regarded yet exposed to taking roids in that fight. He was still considered a contender back then and a possible opponent for Vitali.

Toney wouldn't back down in the ring and probably get himself killed. Sigh.

If Toney wasn't so worn, I imagine that he'd probably manage an effort akin to Chris Byrd. Lose most if not all the rounds, while still remaining in the fight --- maybe be impressive at one point or another.

Lets see, James Toney succumbed to Sam Peter's blazing fast combinations and superior skill... oh wait, Sam Peter is slow as heck and has no skill at all.

James Toney doesn't have it anymore. I don't think he would win a single round vs Vitali.

Valuev, may win a round or two, by using his size and reach. Vitali might need to make a few adjustments and give away a couple of rounds.

Toney has fought in Europe when he was MW champ. He was considered the man at MW and SMW, why should he have traveled to Germany to defend it when he defended it against great competition in the US? To get robbed? To be fair he got robbed in the US too (both Griffin fights). Look at his record during these years, it reads like a who is who in boxing, c'mon you can't blame him for not taking challenges in Europe at that time - who was there at SMW and MW in Europe anyways at that time? The only ones that spring to my mind are Benn and Eubank and they wanted no part of Toney. Besides, why should he travel to the UK when he was the man at SMW? Toney fought RJJ instead. At LHW he wanted a fight with Henry Maske and was willing to do it in Germany but it didn't come off as he was struggling with his career after the first Griffin robbery. Same situation with DM after the 2nd Griffin robbery.... BTW, Henry Maske and DM never fought outside Europe, why didn't they get on a plane? Toney did.

Same thing at CW, Jirov was the man to beat at CW at that time and as far as I know he fought out of the US, so why travel to Europe?

If he was a old, fat former middleweight who kept his ugly mouth shut, then you would be right. However, he is a old, fat, ugly former middleweight who keeps jabbing on about things he can do to this and that fighter. Let him prove it then! Or shut the **** up and get out of our sight. Right? We don't want to see the fight because it would be a good fight - we want to see it because it would be a brutal beating of an annoying little fat clown... oh, and former middle weight too..

I remember Vitali proposed a fight, but when exactly was that again? Was it before Toney fought Ruiz in the US for the WBA strap or after that, when he was supended for roids? Or was it before the Booker fight when Toney came off an injury? Or was it after Vitali retired in 2005?

James Toney never has and never will keep his mouth shut. And, in a way, you've gotta admire him for that. He's James Toney - the one and only. Boxing would have been duller without him all these years.

P4P he's light years ahead of Vitali. But it's time to call it a day.

At this stage, James would not win a round. Valuev would win rounds. I'd love to see Valuev-Vitali.

Well, he is still more proven at heavyweight than Haye so far.
