Ok, let's look at it this way. It is 1986 and Tyson has basically plowed through anything put in front of him. You, after hearing of these feats and watching a few fights, jump on the Tyson Bandwagon. His next fight is scheduled and he is to fight some European unknown named Vitali Klitschko. All you know is that he is a game fighter with a padded record and a good KO %. Fight time comes, you see this Klitschko guy is tall, but does not look much different than any previous Tyson Victims. They both get in the ring and someone puts a gun to your head and says "Tell me who wins?" Who do YOU pick?
this poll would have the same exact results if it was titled "who do you like more?" Americans hate the Klitschkos and love Mike Tyson, what do you expect? ppl like to pretend Klitschko has never faced anyone as dangerous as Mike Tyson but the truth is in Tysons prime, he never ran into anyone as dangerous as Vitali, Vitalis never been knocked down and has a better KO ratio, a huge size advantage and better technique (for his build) but here's the gamebreaker.. Vitali is a doctor and Mike Tyson is.. I don't know how to explain his mentallity without fighter bashing, Vitali TKO round 8
Cuz I don't understand boxing? Give me a break. I have forgot more than you will ever know. You don't understand physics, midgets, mental toughness, jabs, etc... Tyson would never, ever beat Lennox or Evander. And Vitali is all wrong for Tyson. Tyson never once shown an ability or any evidence that he could beat a skilled big. Period. End of story. He had a 3 year prime beating light heavyweight, retired ATG's, and stiffs. He was entertaining, but anyone that understands the fight game knows what Tyson was...an amazing marketing machine.
vitaly's is tough, powerful, has a solid chin, and is 8 1/2 inches taller than tyson so therefore i think he would lose via UD to pre 1989 tyson.
Vitali is what Tyson pretended to be. Easy KO for Klitscko over the befuddled Iron Mike. Absolute style mismatch.
Tyson has more all round skills & is faster, much faster & defensively very good so I dont see Vitali landing a great deal of punches on Mike but I see Mike having great difficulty in reaching Vitali`s head with any kind of KO blow.... so I predict Tyson by UD. I see Tyson fighting Vitali similar to the way Frazier fought Ali in their 1st fight except Mike will take far less in return & wont have as much trouble finding VK.
Tyson unified the titles by age 21, then crushed the entire division for around 10 defences over the next few years. Vitali held the one of the big-3 titles for ONE defence (not even a mandatory), then regained that one title after "retiring" for 4 years. Care to explain what you mean? :think I'm all ears.
Its easy to make such a statement because he never did beat them & you are always gonna have the last say because Tyson lost when he did fight them but when Tyson was in his prime, neither of those guys were even considered a serious threat, the reason for that - other than Holy being at cruiser - was that Tyson was on a whole other level from every HWT - yes, Lennox included - on the planet. Prime for prime... I give Lewis a better shot than Holyfield but ultimately Tyson beats both. Dont give me this `mental toughness/weakness` thing regarding Tyson because he showed none of this in his prime, it was only later on when his outside life was spiralling out of control that Tyson started to be affected mentally in the ring.... the prime Tyson was 100% boxing, he lived & breathed it & some rough patches in a Tyson v Lewis/Holyfield fight would only motivate him to step it up a notch unlike the shell that fought Lewis & the one that fought Holy wasnt much good either after 3 or so yrs in jail. He still gave Holy a good fight the 1st time before gassing, he wouldnt have gassed at all in his prime. Ps. Please change your user name, there are actually Ali & Louis fans on ESB... they might see that **** & laugh like ****. :thumbsup
Boxing is about styles. Tyson never beat a fighter like Vitali. The closest he came was Lewis and we saw what happenned. Much of Tysons early success was due to his mystique of being a wrecking machine with nerves of steel. We now know that he routinely cried in his dressing room before fights. When Buster Douglas shattered this image Tyson was never the same. Vitali is almost 10 inches taller and with a near 10 inch reach advantage, short of climbing a ladder Tyson could never reach his chin which in my opinion is more solid than Tysons. I have never seen Vitali appear nervous, he has never come into the ring out of shape and he has never bitten an opponents appendage. Dont tell me about how Tyson fared against totally dissimilar competition, tell me what he did in his career that would lead you to believe he could beat a fighter with the attributes of Klitschko. Tyson looked great agianst average competition but more often than not looked average against great fighters.
what aload of ****, Vitaly is yet to beat anyone of significance, he fought an old, shot faded Lewis who would NOT have beat peak versions, of Holy or Tyson, or even Rahman for that matter. All Vitaly is good for is beating limited, out of shape C-class fighters.
