I agree with him about how Cotto fought AM. There is a grain of truth in everything that he said...

Well ****, you could say that cotto was much faster than margo. so rather than try to compete with his speed, he stayed busy took some shots and broke his man. I mean... either way its similar scenario

This is precisely why Margarito was ineffective at 154 against Santos. If Margo can't hurt you he has no Plan B. He'll never be **** above 147. Cory Spinks would embarass him and I'm not saying Spinks can eat his shots all night. I'm saying he just wouldn't land enough on Cory.

You mean Floyd Sr? Roger says he told the people at his gym a week before the fight that Cotto would get stopped by Margarito because he "has no chin."

After seeing the fight with Santos, I believe you could be right.
Honestly I was shocked to see Margarito actually get hurt in that fight.
But oh the size difference... Santos actually seemed bigger than Margo, when Cotto is almost like a dwarf next to him!
In a rematch with Santos I would have to favour Santos again... Now Cotto? As someone posted earlier, we have to see him in his next fight before we can even say anything about a rematch with Margarito.
I mean he has the tools to beat Margo, but how will he rebound from a bad loss like that?

Problem with Floyd Sr. is that since he was a defensive fighter and he only knows how to train fighters to be defensive fighters he thinks that is the only way to fight. There is nothing wrong with the game. Margarito just fights a different way than Flyd Sr likes.

and that statement would be true, margo knows he's not fast but so he used what he had which is size , strength and stamina ..

Cotto on the other hand could not over come these assets , even though he was faster then tony , he did not have the stamina to keep moving on his toes for 12 rounds , cotto in the past has never had to fight 12 rounds on his toes , he always been the one doing the chasing not the one being chased, that was the only big chenk in cotto's armor I felt was going to be a factor going into later rounds of this fight, Im sure I was not the only one that felt that way.

Once cotto slowed down, margarito's size and strength took over, cotto had pretty much emptied his tank from all the moving around and hitting in the early rounds, and had nothing left to defend him self or move out of the way or even move his head from the punches coming at him.

the end result was cotto waving the White Flag.
    side note :
Cotto camp didn't seem to train any different for Tony then they did for any other fight. looking back at Cotto's training camp on the web his training camp didn't seem as intense at all, he jumped rope, hit the bag and spared as he alway has for any other fight .. I personally thought they would have worked on his stamina a bit more then what they showed.

I think this is the point Floyd Sr is trying to make, or hope that Cotto would learn from his mistake and make the proper adjustment in his training and in the fight. whether he can bounce back mentally and make it happen is another story ..

Is this Mayweather Sr. way of pitching Cotto to be his trainer? :think

I do agree that Margarito's size and strength advantages can be neutralized at 147lbs with a good strategy and a skilled enough fighter to execute it. I do believe Cotto is skilled enough to fit the bill however his pride and arrogance tends to draw him into slug fests at times and almost no welter can beat Margo in a slug fest.

    Except PTP.

Beenie, let me know if I'm giving you too much props. Good post. Floyd Sr. wants to train AM. Floyd Sr. is still a bit bitter that people thought Floyd ducked AM, and he does belittle AM every chnce he gets. But it isn't like what Sr. is saying is totally false.

It's well known that Cotto has had issues with his trainer for some time now and after such a devastating defeat it might be good timing for him to make a change. I actually think Mayweather would be a great fit for Cotto because he could definitely help enhance Cotto's defense which at times has been suspect.

Long term I'd love to see him train Cotto against his son.:hey
