with bandages dipped in treacle and pushed into a bowl of crushed glass with tong po as guest referree, who has been bunged 500,000 dollars to do a joe corteez impersonation,if it goes to a clinch joe must offer the ear!
This is what I don't get- both Pavlik and Dawson are 10 years younger than Calzaghe; Pavlik's fighting Hopkins coming up next, and Dawson's last two fights were against Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver, who are both old fighters as well. I personally don't have a problem with the fights because I wanted to see them, but there's a pretty big double standard going on when people care that much more about an older fighter fighting other old fighters more than prime fighters fighting older ones. It's also convenient to ignore that two of Joe's biggest wins, Kessler and Lacy, came when he was fighting younger fighters (7 and 5 years, respectively). So, why does Joe get singled out here? Most of the fights in his career were against people around his age or younger, with the exception of Hopkins and Eubank. Eubank was 6 years older than Calzaghe, and Hopkins was 7 years older. If you combine them, you get the difference between Dawson and Glen Johnson and it's not even close to the difference between Pavlik and Hopkins. I would love to see him go out against Pavlik or Dawson, though :thumbsup
you americans had your choice of opponents with Lacy and Kessler, he does both easily and now you hate on him for chaseing paydays. Pavlik is an over-rated Ameribum. I hope he loses on Saturday and then the Pavlik hype-train will well and truly be de-railed, losing to a 43 year old.
Because hes British and because he whooped the great ''mini-Mike Tyson'' jeff Lacy after every american on here predicted he would win within four rounds.
i have no idea. jealousy maybe. i stopped bothering about it now, it annoyed me at first cios they obviously dont appreciate a talent when it slaps ( pun intended ) in the face. now i just laugh at them, safe in the knowledge that i'm sure calzaghe really doesnt give a ****.
That won't work. If he beats them everyone would be all "I always said they were overrated". If he loses to the Klitschkos eveyone would be all "RJJ stepped up from MIDDLEWEIGHT to beat the HW Champ, Calslappy couldn't even do it from SUPER middleweight... he's a bum!"
Calzaghe is a great, great fighter cause he is smart, cool and he has the true heart of a Dragon. But his fight with Jones is gonna be risky since it's going to be technical and strategical and I really do not know for sure whether Joe is smarter or technically sound enough to beat Roy. Furthermore, I know Roy can take the physicality since Prince Badi Ajamu was an impressive physical specimen and Roy spent 12 rounds driving him off. Even Tito was strong at 170 so let's see what happens. Joe has unbelievable pressure on him and I do respect that.
Take your pick from these: 1. He's British. 2. He's white. (some closet racists on this forum no doubt) 3. Jealousy. 4. He's undefeated. 5. His fighting style. 6. His demolition of Jeff Lacy (the new Mike Tyson who was going to destroy Joe ) 7. His resume, even though they ignore many other top fighters resumes who are not much better if at all. 8. His reluctance to travel to the states sooner.
Nah, he should just have fought better fighters in his career so his resume wasn't so weak. Peace :good
