Definitely hovering above B+ level. Margarito is not a great boxer. He is neaither really quick nor fast, he actually lumbers around the ring, but makes up with it by always stalking his opponent, like a walking zombie whose only goal is to follow his hapless victim, putting consistent workrate and usually antes up the pressure after the midrounds to the latter rounds, utilizing his considerable size advantage, tremendous chin, excellent stamina. Not exactly a one-punch KO artist, but has heavy hands, which if thrown in accumulation, does enough damage, not only physically but mentally as well. He is a nightmare for boxers who has stamina issue, but can be beaten by active, faster boxers who know how to nullify his pressure.
You seriously believe he is in that level? You don't beat Cotto in that impressive way if you are falling under those categories.:-(
Anyone who votes under B+ is a window licker. Its pretty simple really. It would look something like this if you broke it down: Speed:C+ Power:A- Defence:C+ Chin: A+ Workrate: A+ Chin and workrate being higher in importance than the other stats imo (hence why Margo wins fights against top level fighters).
Speed: B- (not exactly Fred Astaire) Power: B (cumulative rather than composite) Defence: D (not relevant - see below) Chin: A++++++++++++++++ (cannot be stopped by anyone below 160 :deal) Workrate: A++ (anyone who can throw 140 punches a round for 12 rounds must be A++) Overall between B+ and A-
his defense has to be an F...he takes shots left and right, and i'd say his speed is average at best....which would be a C.....but other then that i'd agree with everything and i'll add: Technique: C - Stamina: A+ Footwork: F Heart: A+ Intelligence: D
I think his footwork is a bit below par, but not really relevant to the way he fights. This is in contrast to a guy like Ricky Hatton, who has as good a footwork as any fighter going around ATM. You under-rate his intelligence, I actually think he intends to take the punches that he does in order to break his opponents. Compare it to anything - if you are playing a computer game and you can't complete it, you eventually give up. Margarito plays the hard man in order to get the opponent to submit to him - Cintron was a classic example. Any fighter is entitled to use their attributes in order to be successful - Floyd used defence, Zab speed, Jackson power - Margarito is perfectly entitled to block punches with his face and smile.......
