A dark shadow fell over the ring on Wednesday night at the Municipal Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas as 25-year hometown Welterweight favorite Oscar Diaz (26-3, 12 KO) collapsed in the rest period after ten rounds against 28-year old Delvin Rodriguez (23-2-1, 14 KO). Details were sketchy as the bout, ESPN2’s Wednesday Night Fights main event, went off the air but the visuals implied emergency conditions.

Yeah, but he'd take a Williams fight over that if he's offered it. I'm sure he'd make more money fighting Williams on Showtime than fighting Hlathswayo on an untelevised card in Africa, and why fight in an eliminator when someone gives you a title shot straight up?

I'm glad. Arum won't let AM fight Williams, so Goosen won't let Williams fight Clottey. Surprise, surprise lol. A fan saying that a world champion like Williams is taking an easy fight lol.

Hmmm, Pavlike or Kolle? Clottey or Rodriguez?

Like I've said before, Williams does a whole lot of talking but actions speak louder than words.

This is actually a pretty evenly matched fight slightly in favor. It's a step up for Williams from his normal competion (excluding Margarito of course). Rodriguez has the slight edge in boxing skills and power, and Williams with edge in chin, stamina, and punch output. Delvin is a poor man's version of Cintron. But he does have some pop. Let's not forget that it was Delvin that was fight Oscar Diaz when he collapsed.

True, but I believe the fight against Golden Johnson did most of the physical damage to Diaz. That bout saw both men hit the canvas and is part of the reason he got his shot at glory against Margarito.

Williams should just face his mandatory, Michael Jennings, and get it over with. At least he is a ranked fighter in the WBO.

If Clottey's really serious about it Williams will fight him. Maybe not in November but in 09, you people have no patient's.

You guys highly underestimate delvin, He's a good boxer thats been in the shadows for awhile. He lossed and bad, Only once but if you whatch that fight you will see he punched himself out. He got tired and I box I can tell you when your tired and getting hit its not good for business. He learned alot after that fight he packs alot of power so dont sleep on him dont sleep on him.
