    :rofl

In all honesty though, if anyone doesn't have Calzaghe in a distant 4th they clearly weren't watching boxing during the mid 90s. Resume-wise, he's beaten to **** by all these guys. And H2H, I think most would have him last there too.

    I have it:
    RJJ
    B-Hop
    Toney
    Calzaghe

    Prime for prime and legacy:

    Jones
    Hopkins
    Toney
    Calzaghe

Although I wouldn't put Calzaghe in the same bracket as those guys.

Nice post... I would've liked to see Hopkins vs Toney - Prime 4 Prime.... I would love to see that fight even now.... if only Toney could get down to 175.

    RJJ
    Hopkins
    Toney
    Calzaghe

I always used to rank Toney above Bernard but recently changed my mind and last night just justified it for me.

    I would say

    RJJ
    Hopkins

    Toney

    Calzaghe

Best Wins - in terms of names on resume (Apologies for any I miss out)

    This content is protected
    - Nunn, DeWitt, McCallum, Jirov, Holyfield, Ruiz, Rahman, ReggieJohnson, Guinn, Barkley, Williams

    This content is protected
    - Hopkins, Toney, (old) Mcallum, Ruiz, Tarver

    This content is protected
    - Ritchie, S Mercado, Johnson, Jackson, Allen, Echols (twice), Joppy, Trinidad, Hoya, Eastman, Tarver, Wright, Pavlik

    This content is protected
    - Eubank, Reid, Ashira, Shaika, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell, Lacy, Kessler, (Old) Hopkins

You could also have a list of fighters not on each of their resumes... for example Toney doesn't have Eubank or Hopkins - not that he ducked them, likewise Hopkins didn't have Toney, Calzaghe doesn't have Pavlik (yet) etc etc..

IMO, Mike Mccallum has a better resume than Calzaghe. Toney could've been with the Hopkins and Jones... but he didn't make the most of his talent and skill. Indiscipline puts him lower IMO than Hopkins, even though he seems to have a slightly better resume than Hopkins.

    -Jones so far
-Toney has always scared the crap outa Hopkins
-Calzaghe but he could move up the ladder soon
-Hopkins ducked Toney, got beat by two above and never beat a heavyweight like Jones and Toney have

I think Hopkins was scheduled to fight Toney quite a few years ago... they eventually coundn't agree and the fight was scrapped.

In my book, Toney loses out to Hopkins and Jones in terms of ATG status because his lack of keeping in shape to perform at the best standards and fulfill his potential.

Calzaghe deserves a lot of credit for beating a guy like Kessler, just like B-Hop is getting for beating Pavlik. Kessler IMO would beat Pavlik at 168.

If you also look at Toneys records, he has some good names but also, he has some losses to people he shouldn't have lost to.

Yeah and Toney has been robbed a few decisions as well. He beat Peter in the first fight
Hopkins got robbed in the first Taylor fight but most of his biggest wins where against much smaller men

    Jones
    Hopkins
    Toney
    Calzaghe

Calzaghe could easily be argued over Toney IMO, but JT has a better resume and his career, while plagued with inconsistancy, is more impressive IMO.

people are right to have joe a distant fourth but it's also the british posters who believe otherwise and stick on the forums anyway that i respect most.

it's very easy for them to stay on a british board and hear otherwise because it suits their point of view - and even though they never have to agree with what people say here, it shows they are open - minded to criticism.
