Calzaghe And Jones The "prime" Issue!

    It is very silly to use "prime" in your hatred and aspirations for the aforementioned fighters.

    Prime cannot be measured and is thus abused by those that rely less on their brain. It is an abstraction.

    If people were using this excuse to discredit Calzaghe/jones, I would be disappointed.

    both pugilists are old in boxing terms the winner should get the credit for beating the other GREAT regardless of frivolities.

    let me put this to you:

    if joe manhandles jones in a convincing fashion,will you still hark back to the days of old with unoriginal cliches or will you give the welsh lad a little credit?

    I won't give Calzaghe much credit, as he'll be doing what is expected against a shot fighter. Sorry.

    There are alot of Welsh haters on esb for some reason. Calzaghe and Jones are both past there prime. Whoever wins deserves respect.

    Who's a past it himself welterweight. Neither Calaghe nor Jones are young and at their best but Jones is a lot further gone than Calzaghe.

    Jones is way past his prime for **** sakes. i could care less if Joe knocks his head off but it won't change the FACT that jones is well past his prime.

    Jones didn't look particularly good IMO, especially considering who he was up against, a shot, former WW fighting 20 pounds above his best weight.

    nah, it will still mean something. jones still has some physical gifts that he once. plus he is fighting a guy coming up to light heavy in calzaghe. plus calzaghe isnt very young himself. bottom line, jones still has enough to beat calzaghe. so if calzaghe wins, still a very good accomplishment

    I will give Joe absolutely ZERO credit when he stops Jones. I gave him credit for Kessler, now I realize he deserves great credit for Hopkins, but he deserves NO credit whatsoever for beating up the easiest option available to him.

    Joe himself said in Boxing Monthly magazine in 2006 and in his own autobiography, No Ordinary Joe, written in 2007, that he would never fight Jones because he was already "SHOT" (that's a verbatim quote) when he lost to Tarver & Johnson in '04-'05.

    Why would we give him credit for beating up someone who is shot? No-one deserves credit for beating someone who is shot.

    You do realise IN JOE CALAZAGE'S BOOK, HE SAID HE WOULD NEVER FIGHT ROY JONES BECAUSE ROY IS A SHELL OF HIS FORMER SELF :lol:
