I don't see anyone calling Kessler a bum. They call Lacy a bum because if you only land 2 punches on someone there is a problem. Plus look what he has done recently. Hopkins was a "good" win but Hopkins far past his prime. He's about 6 years removed and 15 pounds removed from his prime. Styles make fights and Hopkins had the style and weight advantage to beat Pavlik. Calzaghe is just a horrible stule match up for the 43 year old man.
He beat the best fighter at 168??? How come he didn't fight Sven Ottke??? Markus Beyer when Beyer was in his prime??? Mitchell when he was in his prime??? How come he fights the "RING" champion who is a 43 year old middleweight but wont fight any of the young bucks??? You a moron DM sucks to.:good
(Bold was added by me.) If by "[...]Joe dominated and frankly humiliated Hopkins badly.", you mean that Calzaghe edged out several extremely close rounds, then yes, sure, but that's not what you meant, right? You should 'watch the fight again' yourself. Joe hit nothing but air with his 'powerful jabs'. In fact, having recently watched the fight again, I can only count on one hand the number of times Calzaghe hit Hopkins flush with a straight shot. It's telling when the best punch Calzaghe threw was right after Cortez had broken up a clinch and Hopkins wasn't paying attention, and even that straight left hardly snapped Bernard's head back. Both looked bad: Hopkins because he was exploiting the low blows for all they were worth, all the holding he did, and his low work rate in the latter half of the fight; Calzaghe because he was flailing and winging those hooks, hitting nothing but air, and getting hit flush with clean right hands while he was coming in. Calzaghe may very well have won the fight (on aggression, but not effective aggression), but if anyone was humiliated, or made to look stupid, it was him.
Yeah, you're just another PAvlik sore loser crying about Calzaghe again lol. Cal fought in the super middleweight division so there aren't too many fighters you think he ducked anyway, so take your biased Kelly Pavlik posting ass and :****off :stfu :lloll :signs lzdie
Ottke never wanted a fight with Cal Pavlik fan, and this is proof you don't know boxing too well as this is well documented. Marcus Beyer??? lol, desperate aren't you lol...:nut He doesn't need to fight any of the young bucks because he is retiring. His time is over. Not everyone can fight well at their age like Hop. Go home and lick your wounds you bandwagon Kelly Pavlik fan. This is what PAv's fans resort to when their man losses. I told you how it would go down folks lol. @!$#!#$# John McCain lol...Hopkins: Vote Obama lol...
Yeah, LAcy is a bum, but Miranda was a great win for PAvlik lol. Miranda never even won a title. LAcy had a couple of titles and was picked to beat Cal just like PAv was picked to beat Hop because of J.T beating Hop. It all comes crumbling around you when your fighter loses, and you've talked so much sorry overrated **** about your boy lol...you :nut ...lol
Barely won? I don't know about that. You can speculate all you want about what might happen but the ultimate truth test is what happens in the ring, which is the only way it could've happened. The only thing that seemed controversial to me was that it wasn't unanimous. What I do know is that is was an ugly, boring fight and I'm not sure why anyone would want to re-live it. IMO, both guys have nothing left to prove and aside from Roy Jones Jr or some ridiculous match-up with David Haye or even the Klitschko bros, there's no one I really want to see them fight. Let them retire, they've earned it. PBF on the hand..:nono
People need to understand that although Calzaghe isn't as old as Hopkins, he is still past his best. Joe used to have decent power and be much more explosive, as he got older he altered his style and relied on his experience more. I hope he retires undefeated to annoy the haters.
Kelly Pavlik???? WHAT? What the **** are you talking about you loser??? Everyone on this site already knows you are a clown.:good
I think Joe's punching power is underated. They were strong enough to cause Hopkins to continually yield ground and fight with his back against the ropes especially after the fourth round. If Cal wasn't putting some degree of hurt on Hops he would have walked right through Joe's offense and beat him down. It was Joe who backed Hopkins up, had him faking low blows to recooperate and generally bitching out. Disgraceful, cowardly tactics. Hell, even the hapless Peter Manfredo took his shellacking like a man and let the ref rescue him. At one point late in the fight Hopkins needed yet another breather but knew the ref wouldn't allow hoim to fake any more low blows. Hopkins lowblowed Joe hard and clearly on purpose in the vain hope Joe would need to get a pain break. Here joe's experience and toughness took over, he fought through the dirty tactic and kept the pressure on and went on to win that round handily. Hopkins showed what a creep and thug he was in that fight and the icing on the cake was that perhaps the "whitest" guy who ever lived whipped his sorry butt.
