I have a weird feeling that Roy is going to beat Calzaghe.

In all honesty if Joe Calzahge couldn't see a Hopkins right hand that dropped him, what makes you think he can't get hurt by Jones?:blood

And after he sticks Cal we can hope B-Hop takes the 40% so we can watch those two go at it again. Again, this would be a beautiful departure fight for the two legends. Let's hope it happens.

I'm still picking Calzaghe by UD, but I seriously believe people are underestimating RJJ coming into this fight. It all starts with styles making fights and RJJ is not slow, sure he isnt RJJ from the 90s but still very fast and the fastest opponent Calzaghe has been in the ring with thus far. Also we can evaluate the fighters RJJ lost to Tarver (at his best) is a difficult opponent south paw with good boxing skills and defense.
In the first fight RJJ went down from heavyweight to cut down to 175 now thats not to discredit Tarver win but you have to beleive that had effect in the first fight for example. Glen Johnson as we can still see (see dawson fight) is still a tough opponent for anyone. RJJ really has nothing to lose he is a Hof and will go down as a ATG. This loss hurts Calzaghe more than it hurts Jones and Joe has been pretty occupied taunting Pavlik as if he is overlooking this fight and he shouldnt be we shall see what happens.

That weird feeling is called "delusional hope".

Watch RJJ's last 6 fights, that'll get rid ot it.

Still making excuses for Roy? Did you use that same excuse when Roy got dropped by Tarver?

By the way, the "slapper" has a better knockout ratio than Johnson does. I think you are underestimating the power in those "slaps"...I have a feeling that Roy is also!!

Calzaghe always has been able to get hit...no one is debating that, but his ability to take punches is remarkable. He got dropped by a flush shot in the Hopkins fight when both fighters' feet were crossed up. When a southpaw is fighting an orthodox fighter, this has been known to happen.

But, make no mistake, I'm not taking anything away from Bernard...it was a very good shot.

His ablilty to take punches is remarkable?:blood Who's really put there hands on him? Ok Bernard dropped him with a good shot. Kessler landed some descent shots, Bika landed some as well. But who has really put some hands on him? Who can say for the whole 12 rounds they were able to keep up with Joe in the speed department and keep it up?

Style wise I give Roy a better chance to beat Joe than I gave Bernard. Roy is faster than Joe, smarter, and stronger as well. Roy's oppertunites to counter are gonna right there for him when Joe decides to try and t-off. Roy isn't underestimating Joe, Roy hasn't shown any sign of underestimation. In fact he looks for hyped for this than the Tito fight.

Roy may be much faster than Bernard and has more snap on his punches. There is no way in hell that he is smarter, has more endurance or is better defensively than B-Hop. I have some small faith this will be RJJ's night, though.

Stylistically Roy is probably the best suited fighter to beat Joe.

It will still be difficult though.

I, for example, bet a lot of money on Hopkins over Pavlik. But I don't think I will bet on Joe vs. Roy. I would if odds were 50-50 or 60-40, but with 80-20 betting odds I am just not interested.

So far Joe has never met a fighter who is faster than him. Kessler was not, Hopkins was not.. and none of the others have been. Roy will probably be faster and will be the first one. We saw in the Pavlik fight how much a lost advantage (physical) can change the opportunities for a fighter. Who knows how this fight will pan out.

Roy is sooo gonna get his ass kicked cuz Roy hates to get hit. He'd rather block for the entire round than attempt to hit his opponent knowing that'll leave him open for a clean counter in return. I want Roy to win but I don't see it happening. If he doesn't show me something this fight I'm not gonna watch another (new) Roy fight ever again.

No Roy won't win he is shot at this stage he still has decent handspeed when he let his punches fly off but he no longer has the footwork to avoid Calzaghe high workrate which will get the better of him as the fight progresses, I see Calzaghe winning a wide UD because Roy is just going to shell up after awhile.

Hey, how about an avatar bet? You sound pretty sure of the outcome on Nov 8th. What do you say, friend?
