If you want to make the case, then you can say that Taylor at least nodded. He didn't verbally respond, but he was nodding, or at least starting to nod, when Steele made the call. It was like the nod became more noticable right when Steele waved it off. You can also look at some of Steele's other decisions. I thought Hearns was in worse shape actually against Barkley, in terms of defending himself and fighting on, than Taylor was in that case, and Steele let that one go. At least Taylor could stand up on two feet without falling over and stumbling.
Come on man he didn't even know where he was.He was all F..... up those are just some excuse people love to make.
Taylor's face was not in better condition than Alfonso Gomez's in the fight with Cotto. Still, the bout was stopped in Round 5. And btw, Lou Duva is an ass clown. :good
Different circumstance though, Gomez was completely outclassed and getting his ass handed to him......one way action, one way beating, thus the reason that fight was stopped.
should rich had stop the fight no, not when taylor was up and had beat the count.but taylor was looking at his trainer instead of responding to the ref.that bull ****, people act like taylor was dead man walking.if was he would never had made the count.if the guys makes the count then you let him continue, no if ands are buts about it. only mexicans disgree and i wonder why.man **** richard steele.
Bleeding from eveywhere all Whobble and look at him now he was very hurt from all that beating he took body and head but some people just dont understand the beating this kid took.
Why do people act like his health now is from this fight alone? He took a lot of punishment throughout his career. His speech sounded fine in 1991. He took a bad beating, but he didn't appear to be in "where the **** am I?" land.
LOOK HOW HE IS RIGHT NOW DUMBASS HE CANT EVEN SPEAK WEEL HOW THE **** CAN YOU SAY THAT ****. And dont start with that racist ****.
That was one of the WROST BEATING'S HE TOOK. And yes he was where the **** am i.Wobble all over in the ropes didn't knew where to hang from one side or the other.
And? Why do people act like his condition is from that fight alone? I know people like to simplify **** from an HBO documentary (not saying you do, but lots of other people), but even Legendary Nights didn't say it was from that fight alone. The episode showed him speak and put the year 1991 (a year after the Chavez fight) on it and his speech was pretty clear. Taylor took a lot of punishment in fights. And being a Philly fighter, he was probably in a lot of gym wars too. Sparring plays a big role in guys getting brain damage. Lots of guys have one fight where they take more punishment than the other fights, but it's usually the accumulated damage over a career that does them in health-wise, not merely one fight. Chavez I, Chavez II, Brown, Espana, Norris, sparring, all the fights post-1994 that I never watched, etc.. We can agree to disagree on that. I thought he was hurt and worn down, but knew where he was (more or less, at least).
i said the ref should not have stoped the fight left dumb ass, what he is going through now might not never happend if he never was robbed in the 1st place.taylor loss a rematch and continued to fight until his late 30's.thats why he is the way he is now, if he was damaged bad in the 1st fight with chavez i dout 2 seconds would have been any worse.i could see if taylor retired that fight but he did not. and mexicans are the only ones that thought it was the right thing to do and i wonder why ! oh well rich thought it was a bright idea, thats the main reason taylor wanted to keep fighting after that.
