I just recently read the interviews form Jenkins himself and Fritzie Zivic in "In this corner ..." and that made me a bit interested in Lew. What can you tell me about him?

His right hand may be the biggest punch of any lightweight in history.

That's all I really know about him other than that he drank a whole lot. Stopped Lou Ambers in 3 rounds for the lightweight crown lost title to Angott and apart from the draw with Zivic and the win over Ambers, he lost to most of the better fighters he fought, like Armstrong, Red Cochrane, and Beau Jack.

Not a great fighter, but he does seem to be a pretty interesting character.

Thanks guys. Would do you think of his training habit. In that interview he said he never did train much, do you know if that´s true or exagerated? What do you think about Zivic´s comment that Jenkin´s was the gamest fighter ever?

Are there any fights of him to watch? What was his style like? I guess it was built around his right hand.

@cobra: You know, I´m as much interested in interesting characters in boxing as I´m interested in good fights that´s why I´m a fan of some obscure fighters like Dagge or the Rocchigiani brothers. Jenkins could fit right in that category.

I'm sure he does fit. I have no certainty on the matter, but as you said his training habits seem to have been poor, somewhat like a 'wasted talent' fighter (although that is harsh criticism of any boxer).

I like what mcvey said in that he had a built-in self destruct button. Those guys are always interesting.
